I labeled this as teen "fiction" because my target age group usually thinks of self-help books or text books when they hear "non-fiction" and don't realize a memoir reads like a...
I watched Ally run into the school, as I sat in the student parking lot. I shakily gripped my phone, waiting for her text and dreading something would go haywire and he'd see me. Just the thought of hearing his voice and being in a ten foot radius of him again, made my body vibrate with nerves and get that burning gasoline feeling in my chest.

It hadn't been ten minutes before she texted me that Kiwi had gone to the bathroom so hurry up and come in. I bolted out of the car and across the walkway, up to the old red painted side doors that led to the first floor hallway. I cautiously opened them, and softly closing them behind me, so they didn't make any loud creaking sounds. I stealthily walked the few feet across the hall, to the end of the row of lockers I was to be stationed at.
My heart started pounding as I heard foot steps coming down the hall from the boys bathroom and get closer as they entered the music room. ALLY TEXT: U in? TAYLOR TEXT: Yeah, I'm good. A: "Is he ready yet? I gotta be outta here on time." K: "He's been doing this shit all day. He waits 'til the last minute to grade papers and get his life in order when he knows today's the deadline, then everyone has to wait for him. He was a half hour late for the last kid." A: "I can't wait that long!" K: "...Hold on." It was silent for a minute. I felt like someone dripped hot candle wax all over my body, hearing his voice. ALLY TEXT: Well this isn't going as planned. Can u hear ok? TAYLOR TEXT: Yeah. Whats going on? ALLY TEXT: Idk Kiwi just went in the office to talk to my teacher. Idk if I'm having class now or not.
Another minute went by before I heard a door slam in the music room and jolted up. I'd taken a seat on the floor, occupying myself with games on my phone, not knowing if this was going to turn out to be a bust. K: "Today's your lucky day, little one." A: "Is the world finally ending?" K: "Just as good...you get me for a teacher. I told him I'd go over your lesson with you 'cause you can't be here late. I expect a thank you in your grammy award speech."

I sat there for forty-five minutes, listening to Ally sing and Kiwi correcting her, singing over her at times like it was American Idol, and cracking one of those wooden pointer sticks on the piano when she made a mistake; enjoying being in charge way too much. They spent the last half of the class going over her piano exercises and making up a lesson plan for her to practice over the summer. I ever so slightly, and I mean fucking slightly, peeked around the corner to look into the room. I saw Ally sitting at the piano, getting her stack of papers in order as Kiwi stood behind her, chugging out of an Evian bottle. He looked even more adorable than I remembered. He had a slight summer tan and his arm muscles looked more toned. I wasn't sure if it was just because he was now off limits to me and I just wanted what I couldn't have, because I probably wouldn't have noticed under different circumstances. TAYLOR TEXT: We gotta go soon. Do whatever ur doin.
