1. Going back the timeline

3K 70 3

You stumbled through the woods, not knowing where you were or how the hell you landed here.
The air smelled different, like burned wood and at the same time fresher than in the forest at your home town.
The cold wind crept under your thin white summer dress as you tried to find anything like a street or just something that looked like a path.
You've already been wandering around for at least an hour and for some reason you just couldn't recognize anything here even so you knew the forest inside out.
A weird feeling spread inside of you and you just knew that's something was off.
Suddenly your feed got stuck in something wet and greasy.
You looked down and noticed that you were standing in dark brown mud, slowly bogging down.
Quickly you tried to pull your feed out of it and fell backward.
The mud made a disgusting sound as you pulled out and one of your shoe got stuck.
It was gone before you could snatch it so you decided to also take the other one off. It was covered with mud anyway.
Something crawled on your hand, a big spider, scared you shook it off and jumped up, letting out a small scream.
Coursing you made your way further through the forest, carefully to not step in such a puddle again.

It must have been another hour of wandering around, probably walking in circles and not finding anything that looked like a street or city.
Out of sudden, you heard someone yelling and then the sound of galloping hooves.
Not sure about what to do you hide behind a big tree, watching the man.
They stopped some meters away from you.
One of them had blond hair and was wearing chainmail with a red cape.
The other one was dark haired and wore a red shirt with a brown jacket.
You couldn't explain the scenery in front of you, thought that it would maybe be for a movie but there were no cameras. Or maybe some kind of roleplay. It's funny how the brain tries to come up with an answer for things that seem to strange to be real.
"Didn't you say that you saw one here?", the blond one asked annoyed while holding his bow in front of his chest.
"I did! I swear!", the dark haired one defended himself and got down from his horse.
You shifted your weight to get a better look at the men and accidentally stepped on a limb.
It made a cracking sound and the blonde one turned to your direction, aiming his bow right at the tree you were hiding behind.
Scared you made yourself small, slowly walking around the tree as the man got near you.
Your heartbeat went faster with every step his horse took and suddenly you lost the ground under your feet, falling down the little hillside behind the tree.
The stones and roots tore at your dress and scratched your skin open as you fell and made you scream out loud.
Whimpering you landed on the dirty ground, right next to the dark haired guy.
He looked at you with wide and surprised eyes as you tried to sit up.
The blond one got down from his horse and walked over to you.
"Who are you?", he asked while the man beside you helped you standing up.
"(Y/n)...", you answered, still in pain of the fall and scared because of the really sharp looking sword which dangled at his brown belt.
The man with the blonde hair looked you up and down: " Why are you sneaking through the woods only in your shift and barefoot?".
Deep down you already knew that something wasn't right but now you needed to admit it. These men weren't roleplaying, they talked to different, they smelled strange and the sword looked too real.
"I don't know...", was the only thing you managed to get out.

Not sure about what to do Arthur decided to treat you like a gentleman and held his hand towards you, helping you get back on your feet.
"I'm Arthur and this is my servant Merlin.", he said in a calm voice, letting his hand rest on your shoulder.
'Arthur and Merlin?', you thought to yourself. 'Like the great King Arthur?' You had been fascinated by the story's and legends about King Arthur and knew them very well. This couldn't be real, you must have hit your head and are dreaming.
"Are you okay..?", Arthur asked you, concerned, since you started at him for at least a minute without saying something.
"Sorry!", you quickly answered and looked to the ground, embarrassed.
"Merlin, lets find a place to sleep so that you can patch her wounds. We won't be back in Camelot before the sun sets tomorrow.", Arthur ordered while getting back up on his horse.
"Sure, my Lord.", Merlin helped you climbing up on his horse and leaded the horse by walking next to it.
"So, ", Merlin started as he followed Arthur. "What happened to you?"
"I don't know.", you just said again, still not sure about what the bloody hell was going on.
It seemed like you went back in time, like really far down the timeline but you had no clue how.
The last thing you remember is going into a cave because it started raining as you were strolling through the forest and suddenly you lost your consciousness. As you woke up again the cave looked different and the forest outside was much more heavily vegetated.
"You can't remember what happened to you?", Merlin tried to get more information out of you and you shook your head, whispering a " No." since this was, at least you thought so, the easiest lie or explanation to tell.
Nobody would believe you if you would say you are from the future. I mean you don't even believe it yourself.
Sighting you closed your eyes for some time and started drifting off into sleep, you hadn't noticed how exhausted you were after walking through the forest for hours and falling down the hillside.
Merlin noticed it and quickly clapped your shoulder to wake you up again so that you wouldn't fall off the horse.

The ride was long and cold, you couldn't feel your fingers and nose anymore and had a hard time keeping yourself on the horses back since the tiredness kept crawling in and you weren't used to riding a horse for so long.
You realized that the horse had stopped walking as Arthur was suddenly standing beside you and helped you get down from the horse.
It seemed like they had found a place to stay overnight.
"Merlin told me that you can't remember what happened to you," he said and you nodded in respons.
"But you can remember your name?"
"Yes... But that's the only thing.", it didn't feel right to lie.
"Maybe your memories will come back the next days. I'll take you with us to Camelot for now."
As you just nodded again Arthur sighted and walked over to Merlin. They talked to each other but you couldn't understand what, just saw that Arthur pointed at you as he spoke.
Feeling alone and out of place you sat down at the ground, next to a big tree and pulled your legs to your chin.
Merlin walked over to you with a smile on his lips, he was caring a small wooden box and kneeled down in front of you, placing the box next to him and opening it.
There were some little bottles and cloth inside.
He poured some of the blue liquid out of one bottle on a piece of cloth and gestured you to hold your arm out.
You flinched as he dabbed the cloth on your wounds, cleaning them.
"Sorry, but this will help.", he said while concentrating on your wounds.

You didn't notice it but Arthur was watching you from across the glade.
He knew that you weren't telling him the truth, at least not the full one and you didn't look like a normal village woman, too clean and you smelled too fresh.
But he knew every princess from the castles around Camelot and you weren't one of them.
Something wasn't right with you.

Sooo, I hope I somehow got you hooked for the next chapters and I promise to upload regularly❤
