The next morning, Aaron woke up and let out a long, satisfied "mm" as he stretched out the warm, prickly feeling in his arms and legs. "Good morning, world. How are you doing?" He turned to the window and smiled, seeing the lemon-colored sunlight igniting the window shades. "Oh, yeah? Well last night, I kissed a very beautiful man and today I'm going to finish my novella. How does that sound?"

He stared at the window for a moment and then, with a light chuckle, said, "All right, that's enough." He turned onto his side and checked the time on his phone. It was 10:44. "Shit, you need to stop talking to the world and get going, you crazy ass."

After returning his phone to the night stand, he got out of bed, went to the bathroom, then headed for the living room. There, he sat down on the couch and turned on his computer. As he started typing his password on the login screen, the computer suddenly shut off. "Fuck!" he shouted and then, collapsing onto the velvet cushions, gave a long, irritated groan. "For the love of God, Harry. Just give me one more novella. Please!"

He lay across the couch for a couple of seconds then sat up and turned on his computer for the second time. Thankfully, it booted up and Aaron—getting the usual, morning urge to masturbate—decided that he shouldn't risk infecting his computer with another brain-rotting virus and immediately started working on his novella.

Three hours later, Aaron wrote the last word of his novella. Without thinking, he saved his work and turned off the computer; he was too nervous to celebrate at that moment. Instead, he took a shower, got dressed, and left the apartment for food. He imagined Alex would be proud of him for going out for lunch. Even if it was almost two o'clock.

He went to the McDonald's on the corner and ordered the twenty-five-piece Chicken McNugget meal (He decided he needed to celebrate a little bit.) He then walked to Fort Tryon Park, climbed to the top of the hill, found a bench overlooking the Hudson River, and started gorging himself on the buttery death balls.

In the middle of his tenth nugget, his phone vibrated in his pocket. Shoving two more McNuggets into his mouth, he put his food down on the bench and took out his phone. He smiled instantly, seeing a text message from Jonathan. It read: Just thinking about u. Had a great time last night. Hope 2 see u soon!

"Mewhh, that's so sweet," Aaron said with his mouth full of warm, chicken goo. He then wrote back to Jonathan: I had a great time, too! See you soon.

As he continued chewing his food, he returned his phone to his pocket then took a sip of his Coke. "All right," he said, putting down his drink and looking out at the peaceful, brownish water of the river. "I'm sorry world, but this summer's going to be my bitch."

He gave a quick laugh then popped another McNugget into his mouth.
