AUTHOR'S POV

     Droplets of water splattered in the dark alley. Small volumes of voices could be heard, but that wasn't all there was to hear.

"Yah! You said you'd get me what I wanted! You little bastard!!"

A smack.
The twisting of bones.
And a gunshot.

"Oi!"

     These incidents happen almost everyday for the young Wraith. But who said she was ever alone?

"You again!? Do you really love picking fights with us that much?"

     The bruises, wounds, and scars didn't matter to her. All that mattered....

"Get the hell outta here before I beat the shit outta ya."

"Hahaha! You always say that! And what? You only get hurt in the end."

.....Is that she finished what she had planned.

"Why don't you run away while I'm still giving you a chance?"

"Never."

     It was always the same. The city was filled with criminals from all over the earth. Some were common thieves, murderers, while others were the most threatening people to face.

"I told you to leave while you had the chance... now look at you! Hahahah! You can't even lift yourself up anymore!! WEAK!!"

"Shut the FUCK up!"

     A blow square on the jaw always made Jae Eun satisfied. She knew her hits were always accurate. But as she had been thriving alone for a while, a friend was always there to help.

"How many times do I have to tell you to stop picking fights on your own?"

     Jae Eun got back up on her feet. She wiped the blood off of her face with the back of her hand like it was a habit.

"Well you're late. So I had to have some fun then!"

     She was reckless, yes. Something her older brother always scolded her for. But out here, no one would be able to tell her that.

"AagGk!"

"Hang on!"

     Although it became a daily routine.... It somehow got worse as it continued.

"Let's get outta here!!!"

"These chicks really are something!"

     Jae Eun stood her ground until the last of the troublemakers was gone. And finally.... she fell to her knees. The same thing always happened.

"Jaxafron! You need to stop with these fights!!"

Jaxafron or Jax.... The codename Jae Eun had been using in Nefarion for the last 4 years. She was well known by that name.

As a criminal.

"Kaytlyn you know I'd never listen to you about that." She chuckled lightly.

"But thanks.... One."

At the mention of the codename, the red-haired girl stood stiff as she held Jae Eun by her arms.

"Jae- Jax..." in an attempt to speak up, Jae Eun cut her off.

"They're here... One... PHANTOM Alpha is here..."

Yes, it was One, the second Wraith of Alpha. The dead ally of Four.

(A/N: YES I finally brought One into the book!!!!)

"Come on.... Let's discuss this at my place... and let's get you cleaned up."

Upon reaching said place, Kaytlyn, or rather, One, went with the usual routine of cleaning Jae Eun's wounds and patching her up.

They were both Wraiths. Both were very skilled and considered the deadliest after Four, but they were differed by ranks.

"Ya know, I never thought I'd get to see my brother again." Jae Eun tiredly stared at the ceiling.

"Why-"

"KAIROS."

One hasn't even said anything else but the younger already knew she was about to ask of why Alpha suddenly entered Nefarion.

"Oh..."

"Don't you wanna see them?" Jae asked. To One, she was like a little bratty sister who's turned into such a tyrant.

"We're supposed to be dead." One simply answered.

"Six, Nine, and Three knows we're here...."

One stared hard at her friend. "T-they know?" Jae Eun only nodded, too tired to utter a word. "Why'd you tell them?" Jae Eun winced as One pressed a towel on her shoulder.

"I didn't. Apparently, Six found out I was here.... When we got to meet, he had a hunch you were here too. So I told him yeah, you are here." Jae Eun smiled at her. An easing smile that said,

"Everything will work out."

"The team has two new members too."

"Really?... Then they don't need me back with them."

As One was about to damp a cotton ball on Jae Eun's wound, the younger grabbed her wrist, stopping her.

"They need you. In fact, they were looking for you. Not me." She frowned darkly but released her hand.

"I don't know.... Your brother may not be too happy about this."

"I'll help explain. Besides, I know I've got some explanations to do as well."

Finishing with the clean-up, One left Jae to rest in her living room.

"Jae Eun...." One called out.

"Hm?" she faced her direction with a questioning look.

"Are you planning on stopping this? Being a criminal?"

Jae Eun doesn't answer.

"How do you think they'll react? Finding out the second deadliest Wraith has become one of the most dangerous criminals on the planet!?"

Jae Eun stared at the ceiling once more, "That'd be terrible. But they'll find out even if I try to stall them. It's either Three finds out... or Six does. This was the only way I could get a little close to finding those shitheads." (she's talkin abt Kairos btw)

One stared at her, sadly. "Jae Eun... Your brother will be upset. And that new weapon... the Augsoid.... You're-"

"I GOT IT UNDER CONTROL!"

The young one stood stiff, her hands formed fists and her eyes darkened the slightest bit. But with her sudden outburst, One stayed quiet. Jae Eun was younger, but she had more guts than One did. And those guts were what she used to fight the opponents who were even too big or too skillful for her to handle.

One had always been side by side with Two, her sister, who had died by KAIROS' hands. So it was reasonable that going solo in battle was new to her.

"I'm sorry... I- I just-" Jae Eun was cut off by One who, like the elder sister she was, offered her a warm hug.

During the last four years in Nefarion, they were each other's only company within the damned city. And when things got rough, they were the only ones there to comfort the other.

     "It's alright. I know you're afraid.... But there's nothing we can do now.... It happened.... All we can do... Is wait until we get the antidote."

Yeah it's short. But I can't make it any longer since it's just a SNEAK PEEK for One and of what Seventeen has been doing while they were in Nefarion. Next chap is also almost doneee.
