Secrecy from the Fans - Luke Brooks

“Its okay, I’ve got this,” Luke said to me as I went through my bag to get some money to pay the ticket.

I sigh, “You sure?”

“Of course,” He winked at me.  I smiled back seeing that he had become less nervous.  I heard Beau sigh impatiently as Luke scrimmaged through his wallet for find money for all three of us and managed to get enough money to pay for it.

“Took your time,” Beau said to Luke as he gave the money to the cashier at the drive through movies.

“You could’ve paid for yourself!” Luke said in protest.

“Hey, I’m the one driving you on your date!” Beau replied roughly and I saw Luke’s face blush at the word ‘date’.

I leant over and patted Luke on the knee, “Thanks for paying for me, Luke,”

He blushed even more now and simply replied with a nod, seeming more nervous than before.  Thanks a lot for that Beau!  We found parking in the middle and we hopped out of the car.

“I’m going to find Stephan you two, don’t get into any trouble,” Beau laughed, seeming to get over his grouchy mood quickly.  I sighed in relief with knowing it was going to be less awkward if it was just Luke and I.  Beau grabbed Luke by the shoulder and walked him a few feet away as I stood awkwardly by the car.  I tried to watch what they were saying without making it obvious by pretending to text on my phone.  I could see Beau was talking to him seriously though.  After a few short minutes I saw Luke turn back towards me and Beau walking off to I assume Stephan’s car.  I quickly returned my phone to my jean pocket and smiled at him. He grinned back seeming more confident than before.

“Sorry about that,” He laughed, obviously trying to brighten the atmosphere.

“Its all right, Luke,” I smiled as I fiddled with my handbag strap on my shoulder.  I felt goose bumps form on my arms from the cold night air that was setting in.  He opened the back door of Beau’s car and I hopped in.

“What are you doing, you goose?” He said to me and I looked puzzled at him.  He started to laugh, “I’m getting a blanket, we’re going to sit on the bonnet,” I blushed in embarrassment and hopped out leaving my bag inside the car.  He grabbed a blanket from the backseat and we went to sit on the bonnet.  I climbed onto the bonnet and stretched out my legs, leaning on the widow screen.  He sat beside me, careful not to touch me.

“So Luke, you do all the editing in the videos hey?” I said as I pull my legs up to my chest in an effort to keep warm.  I wish I knew we were going to be outside tonight, I would’ve bought a jacket.

“Yeah I do, I don’t think any of the other boys have the patience to do it,” He laughed.

I laughed with him, “Yeah I couldn’t really imagine Beau editing a video,”

“He would probably break the computer,”

“Or start a keek war!” I reply.

   We continued to laugh and I could feel my lower jaw start to shiver and goose bumps appear all over my arms again.

“You cold, Rach?” He asks worriedly as he took off his jumper and revealed a long sleeved baseball tee.  He placed it on my shoulders and I smiled at him

“Thanks, Luke,” I pulled the jacket on and smelt Luke’s special smell on it.

   The movies started and I heard the people in the cars around us stop talking. We sat there in silence, watching the opening scene when Luke heard my stomach grumble.  I blushed and he looked at me.  He remembered that we hadn’t eaten.
