Flashback 2
Kong's POV
My arms were slightly stiff from holding a glass in each hand while I zipped through the boisterous gathering after the final events for the day. More than one of my friends' were thoroughly inebriated and let's not even talk about the state of most of the seniors. Which is exactly why I was more than comfortable chugging down a couple glasses before I mustered up enough courage to go looking for the one man who had made my last few months extremely interesting.
In a good way.
As much as our famously volatile clashes looked like we were at each other's throats, it was probably the most fun I have had in a long time. And sometime in the past few weeks when after a particularly loud screaming match, the very next day he was right back to normal, infact making sure all of us had eaten a hearty enough lunch, I had instantly made my mind. The last day of the freshman trip I was going to tell him my secret.
If there was anyone who would accept me, it was going to be him. I was sure of it. So with my mind thoroughly made up, I straightened my back and began hunting him down. Luckily for me I found him already occupying a rather secluded spot on the beach. Which was perfect, cause what I wanted to confess didn't really need an audience.
And two minutes of squatting next to him while he carelessly stared into the darkness, I visibly felt my courage draining out of every pore of my body. Imagining his impending reaction making my voice choke like an enormous fur ball was caught in my throat. It's now or never Kong. Stop being a chicken and SPEAK!
"P'..."
"Hmmm?"
"I....ummm...I...."
"What?"
"Uhhh..."
Crap, I should have practiced my speech before I attempted this conversation.
"What is it?"
"I ...had...something...I...wanted...to...tell...you..."
Say it. Just say it. It will be ok. Just say it.
"I haven't...haven't...ever...told anyone...you are the only one...ummm...I...wanted to..."
I could feel his eyes boring into mine. An annoying blush rising up my neck.
"Let...let...me start over. What I am trying to say is...is...you are great."
"Uh, huh."
"And I think we are lucky you are our senior. My senior."
"Ooookay..."
"And I am so glad that we are friends now. We are right?"
