The year is 1028, and I am a vampire.
My name is Ivy, It has been a thousand years since I have been human. It's funny to try and remember those days, humans are so fragile, so emotional. I would never want that for myself, I hate humans. They grow old with such wisdom and history of the world, and when they die, the new generation gets more ignorant and think they are constantly better always.
I was sitting outisde in the snow watching the love of my life, Nickolas, chop down a nearby tree. It was growing out of line, that was his excuse. I think he just wanted to do something useful besides sitting around.
Our little village was isolated high up in the mountains in Europe. We needed the isolation, humans or lycans would never find us up here, and the cold is heaven for us. Vampires don't need good weather, we don't need human interaction, we have survived for thousands of years without any luxeries.
I felt a presence behind me, I turned quick to see my older twin brother, James standing behind me. His friendly eyes light up when our eyes met and he pulled me in for a hug. He has been down the mountain on a hunt and has been gone for a couple days. I got excited everytime that he or my other brother, Vicktor came home safe. Nickolas was back inside and was sharing my excitement as he brought James in for a hug as well.
Our little village has at least 50 vampires living together. We all are very close, since we have been with eachother for decades. We all get along very well.
James, me, and Vicktor all look alike, you would think Vicktor would be the oldest triplet out of the three of us but he is three years older than James and I in human terms. Vampire years, we are the same. We all have dark black hair and the vibrant blue eyes that most vampires have. Our pale skin was a human trait that we had before our transformations. We were lean and muscular. Vicktor has a rare power of reading human minds by pictures, not by thoughts.
If James or I had a power, it has not been discovered yet, it is a very uncommon trait to earn.
James filled up full with blood, enough to share with me and Vicktor. We both latched on to his wrists and drank in just enough to satisfy our thrist. Nickolas just got back from a hunt, so he was fine, he refused to let me go and hunt so this was the only way that I could get blood at the moment.
I wiped my mouth off and followed Nickolas to our room to rest. We do not sleep, but we have a moment after feeding where we feel like we need sleep. Nickolas laid down and I followed him down. We had a mat on the ground with a ragged blanket, like we needed it.
"Something is wrong," Nickolas started to say, I turned to him to listen, his eyes were red by default but they were glowing.
"What is it?" I asked back as I heard the marching off in the distant. "Jesus," I sat up and watched Nickolas fly past me out the door. I followed him out the door and sure enough, other vampires were startled by the noises we heard. Looking down the edge of the mountain, sure enough there was an army, an army of humans running up the mountain now.
Vampire screams filled the night sky as I tried to not panic. Nickolas grabbed me by my shoulders and was yelling a command at me, but i was too distracted to hear. They were getting close.
"GET HER BACK!" Nickolas yelled out, I finally looked into his eyes, I gave him a kiss as someone pulled me away from Nickolas. He was the leader of our clan, therefore was the one who had to deal with the humans.
"No!" I screamed as both my brother pulled me away from Nickolas, I was pulled backwards but I watched as he turned to face the human leader who was 50 yards away, the leader halted his soldiers charges as he rode toward Nickolas on his white horse. The soldiers were all in full military uniforms and were ready for battle. They all had massive swords and silver armor. Our village was just a rag tag bit of vampires, we looked like peasants, who could live at the top of mountains. The soldiers looked freezing, and we looked normal, we were not doing a good job passing off as humans. I mean I have no shoes on walking around in about two feet of snow with nothing more than a dress on.
Vicktor had my right arm and James had my left, they knew i would run to Nickolas if something went wrong with this whole situation. The soldiers surrounded us on all sides, we were blocked in and huddled up into a group in the middle of the village. Nickolas was standing 20 feet away and we all listened in as he spoke with the leader.
"So, you are just living up here, in the freezing cold?" The elder king asked. He had a sword on his shoulder as he sat up right on his horse. Soldier guards stood around him also with long pikes out. He was just as surrounded as we were.
"Go home, sire, there is no need for an army," Nickolas stated, we knew that we were in some serious trouble, how did they even know that we were here?
"No, sir, I will not go home because I watched one of your 'villagers' rip apart one of my soldiers. I know what you are and I followed him here, just so I could personally watch him die. Then I find out that there is a lot of you!" He said waving his sword over at our group. I looked over at James, he face was more pale than normal, if that was even possible. I gasped, James got caught, he was seen by a human. This was not good I thought as I looked back over to Nickolas. The human king was enjoying himself as he screamed down at him.
"I want to see the one who is resonsbile. I want him to step forward, so I can kill him myself!"
"NO!" I screamed as Vicktor wrapped his arms around me as I tried to stop James from stepping out. I knew that they were going to kill both of them, I was freaking out.
"Shhh. He just wants to scare us, I can see his thoughts," Vicktor whispered into my ear quietly. Something inside me told me that he was lying, but again, there was nothing I could do.
"Ahh, there you are," The king proclaimed. "Kill him." He stated flatly as James stopped walking towards them. He looked around quickly as human soldiers ran at him.
"NOOO!" I screamed again and squirmed as he soldiers flew at James. He could take them, I know he could. Soldiers then flew in at us all. Everything seemed to stop and my eyes locked with Nickolas as he turned to me, from far away, I saw the fear in his eyes.
"I love..." I could not finish my sentence to him because the king swong his sword, taking Nickolas' head right off his body. My world just stopped as I watched, I could not believe it at first and then it hit me like a brick wall. My eyes widened as I saw his head on the ground and his body fall after it.
I ripped myself out of Vicktors grip and I ran to Nickolas' body, I was crying and screaming when I got to him and I fell to the ground. My dead heart ached at this loss and I just wanted to die. I cried even harder when I looked at his face, his eyes were still open and he had the same emotion. The same emotion he only showed to me before he was murdered.
"I love you..." I whispered in between sobs. I stood up and faced the king who was two feet away on his little horse. He smirked down at me as I felt my fangs come out and my anger quickly turned to hate. I leaped up to the king and ripped his head off. I then drank my fair share of his blood before I was pulled away again. Vicktor caught up to me and was carrying me as he ran down the hill. I looked back and saw James follow behind us. I was like a rabid animal, I just wanted to kill them all. That king killed Nickolas, I need to go back I thought.
"PUT ME DOWN! NICKOLAS! I WON"T LEAVE YOU!" I screamed up the hill as I fought against my brother grib. By the time we got to the bottom of the mountain, Vicktor slamed me against a tree, "Stop resisting me, Ivy. Im sorry but he is dead, we need to run. I am so sorry, sister." James caught up and stood next to Vicktor, he looked concerned for me but I wanted to kill him now.
"You are the reason they found us! Nickolas is dead because of you!" I spat at my brother, my rage turned to saddness as i slumped over and started to cry again. James knew it was his fault but what was he to do?
"Im am so sorry sister," James started to say as I screamed on and cried.
"We need to move," Vicktor said, turning away from me and said to James. They agreed and Vicktor picked me up again and we ran on. "Her screaming will wake the whole town nearby and we will have more humans on our asses."

That first night was the worst, and when I was done crying, I shut my emotions off. I need to survive, that was my first instinct. I needed to survive so I could come back and kill every last soldier that was there last night.
