[18] - Treasure Island Arc ~ 1

Start from the beginning

"You bet we are!" She states.

The storm continues to go on as we sail closer to the mysterious island. Luffy taking his favorite spot on the sheep figurehead.

"A vengeful god, a treasure hunt, and an island shrouded in mystery. I can think of no better way than to spend this day." I smirk, ready to take on whatever this new island has to throw at us.

"Let's go! To Treasure Island!" He shouts excitedly.

Usopp and Zoro get to work preparing the ship for entering the rough seas surrounding the island. Nami and I laugh at another new adventure. And my animal friends are doing everything to not get blown away or fall overboard.

It didn't take much time at all to finally reach the new island and since the island was in the dead center of the storm, the weather isn't as violent, and no rain fell here. The island is taller than it is wide, rising into the swirling storm clouds at the eye of the storm, with most of the land covered by heavy amounts of vegetation and odd plant life. Soon after anchoring to the island's coast, we are parading through the vast rainforest. Trees and vines hanging overhead as far as the eye can see.

Nami taking point, Luffy following after, ChouChou, Umi, Richie, and I just behind him, then Usopp and Zoro at the back. Carmela, Ahio, Trigger, Tito and Calder are keeping an eye on the Going Merry. The journey was a rather silent one, if you take away Usopp's occasional freak outs. Like the one he's having this moment as a carnivorous plant bares its fangs at him and he runs up and clings to me from behind. I look down at him over my shoulder and give him a comforting smile before turning to face forward and allow him to keep clinging to me, unaware of the sniper's blush and the jealous glares he's receiving from the two human males of the group.

An odd thing I notice is that this rainforest environment would be perfect for teaming wildlife, but not a single roar, cry, hiss, screech, or growl (not from any of the Pack members present) has sounded since we all stepped foot on this island. Not even the sounds of an insect. The only thing that can be heard are soft claps of thunder from the storm surrounding the island.

"Hey, this place is creepy." Usopp broadcasts his opinion.

"Yeah, so?" Zoro replies in an uncaring tone.

"It's said that somewhere on this island rests an unimaginable fortune just waiting to be found." Nami starts to explain. "Supposedly, many pirates have landed here in the past, but they all fled in absolute terror before they ever got the chance to look for it."

"'Absolute terror'?" Luffy echoes.

"Sounds like a real force to be reckoned with. Can't wait to meet this god." I smirk as we continue our march through the forest.

"I'd be afraid too. They say one pirate's face turned into a boar's face. And another pirate's mustache stretched out like a couple of snakes and strangled him." Nami goes on to list some of the stories about this very island, as we continue our trek through the island's brush.

Usopp was turning blue in terror at the stories. "But that's not true, right?"

We halt our march as Nami faces us.

"Well, I'm sure that some of those stories are a bit of an exaggeration." She shrugs.

"Don't take away the fact that they could be possible. There is often truth in myths and rumor, they can just get twisted around over time. It's important to keep an open mind, especially if we plan to sail the Grand Line." I advise.

"Stop talking, you two. You're scaring me." Usopp begs, still clinging to me.

As we stopped, I begin to sense we weren't alone anymore as multiple pairs of red eyes pop out from the shadows of the heavy brush of the forest. A loud yawn breaks the silence and I turn to see Zoro walking away from the group.
