Chapter 20: Inside Your Case

"I do."

"But how do you manage with MACUSA and..."

"I don't have broken latches on my case." She joked.

We both laughed. It reminded me of the time when it was just her and me. Will she ever forgive me for leaving her?

"You are very lucky that I already fed everyone, Newt Scamander."

My name just sounded so different when she says it. Suddenly I heard a little squeak and saw Y/n's eyes go wide. Then it hit me. She saw Pickett pop out of my breast pocket. I carefully took him out.

"Pickett, this is Y/n, do you remember?" I said.

Pickett, who was standing on my hand, tried to reach for Y/n with his little hands like a little child would do when they want to be picked up from the ground. Y/n lifted her hand and I moved my hand closer to hers so Pickett could climb on her hand. When our hands touched, shivers went down my whole body.

"Hello, Pickett!" She said with a smile on her face.

I did not want this moment to end but I suddenly remembered about my creatures and what can happen to them.

"Y/n, we should get going." I said.

"Right." She said and handed me Pickett.

Our hands brushed again and I tried very hard to ignore the feeling of her soft hands that were covered in little scars and bite marks.

Y/n stood up and I followed her. I quickly glanced behind her and saw that her dragon was sleeping. Twinkie laid down near it and closed her eyes. Y/n saw where I was looking and turned around.

"This is Puffskein. She and Twinkie were the first creatures that inhabited my case." Y/n said with love and pride in her eyes.

Suddenly she turned to me.

"You took care of Mr. Kowalski, right?"

"Oh, yes. He's all right and he stopped sweating." I said glancing at Mr. Kowalski who was silently standing by the door of the shed.

Y/n followed my gaze and saw Mr. Kowalski. He slightly waved at us.

"Good. We should get going then. Come on." She said and headed toward the shed.

Your P.O.V.

You were sitting on the bed of the room you were kindly offered to stay in. You were still wearing your coat. Your case was set on the floor near your feet. You had to make sure that nobody would walk in before going down into your case to feed your creatures.

A few moments later you heard a knock on the door and then Queenie walked in holding a mug.

"I thought you might like a hot drink." She said smiling at you.

Queenie handed you a mug of hot cocoa. It smelled delicious.

"Thank you, Queenie." You said.

"The toilet's down the hall to the right."

"Thank you."

"Good night, Y/n." Queenie said while winking at you and walking out of the room, closing the door behind her.

"Good night." You said and took a sip of the cocoa.

Then you set the mug on the nightstand and bent down setting your case on the ground. You poped the lid of the case open and walked in, closing the lid after. You walked down the steps and took of your coat and cardigan. Then you opened the door that led into the room full of food for your creatures.
