"Wait, Harry are these your parents?" I peek over his shoulder, pointing at the moving photo as the woman waves at the camera with the baby's hand adorably. Happily, he nods, "They are. Thank you, Hagrid, really." Hagrid waves him off shyly, shooing us onto the train.
Hermione sent Ron to find us an empty compartment to sit in together, so once we find him, I rush in and stick myself out the window to wave at Hagrid once again. Receiving a wave back, I retreat inside, satisfied, sitting next to Ron who's left me the window seat, Harry and Hermione sat across.
Before I get lost looking out the window, I feel a nudge against my side. Ron's attempt at getting my attention, successfully might I add. I turn to him, humming a small 'hm?' with an eyebrow raised.
"Got this thing for you," He says, handing me a scroll of parchment, "Open it up."
I take the scroll with a small smile and open it up, as instructed. As I begin reading it, my mouth drops open in complete shock, it reads:
"Dearest Ronald,
I think it's absolutely wonderful that you've only just started school and are already inviting friends to stay over for the summer! I wanted to reply straight away so I wouldn't keep you from your schoolwork, so of course, she's more than welcome to stay whenever she likes—so long as her parents are happy with it.
I understand that her parents are Muggles and may not quite grasp the whole concept of owling, but do make sure she speaks to them before she stows herself away in our house. And please reassure her that there's absolutely no need to be nervous about meeting me—or your father, for that matter. Our home is open to everyone, and she'll be made to feel right at home the moment she steps through the door.
Love,
Mum"I gasp, looking over at him as I finish reading, practically smiling from ear to ear. I lean over and pull him into a tight hug, thanking him profusely. He laughs, hugging me back happily, swaying a bit.
Once we let go, I look back at the note and scan it once again, suddenly nervous about making a good impression, I ask, "Ron, what if they don't like me?"
He looks at me quite deadpan, but then rolls his eyes playfully, "Don't think about it that much, my family doesn't not like anyone! You'll be fine, they'll love you." I sigh, nodding to myself a bit reassuringly, tucking the note away in my pocket, "If you say so.."
"What's the note about, Y/n?" Harry asks, tilting his head at it a bit. Nervously, I glance at Ron beside me, then at Hermione, who's got a sad smile on her face. Well, the only one I've not told anything is Harry, come to think of it, so might as well, right?
"Uh, well.. To be frank, I'm scared of going home." I confess, expecting the air to suddenly become tense, but it doesn't. Harry looks quite understanding actually, asking, "Well, I don't wanna go back either, but scared? Why scared, if you don't mind?"
I sigh, "For starters, they don't even know where I am, let alone that I'm here, so I'm afraid that if I'm to go back, they'll keep me there, you know? I'm afraid that I won't be able to come back and I'll get stuck in that house again." I look down, wringing my hands together, that familiar feeling of dread in my chest swirling around like always. "Are you.. okay?" Hermione asks, treading lightly although there's no need to, I'd tell her anything, I trust her.
"I'm perfectly fine since I've got my answer from Mrs Weasley! See, thing is, I was telling Ron about this a few days ago and he asked his mum if I'm able to stay over with them this summer! The letter was a yes!" I reply, fairly chipper as I reach in my pocket to pull out the letter again and hand it to them, letting them read it as well, "Other than that, I'll be alright. I'll definitely try and find out more about my mum though, since- I told Hermione earlier- I had no idea she was a witch before we found her in the Quidditch trophy case!"
Ron looks over at me, puzzled, "You didn't know? Wouldn't she have told you that?" I shake my head, pocketing the letter once Harry handed it back, "I don't remember her writing about that in her diary, but maybe I'll have another look and see if I missed it?"
Harry raises a brow, "Can't you just ask her?" Hermione gasps and smacks his arm, shushing him, "Harry, don't ask her that, it's rude!"
I airily giggle at the bewildered Harry, shaking my head, "No, it's alright, Hermione, I wouldn't want to keep that from them." I reach over and tap his red leather book sat on his lap, "My mum's also gone, Harry. All I've got is her diary since she died when I was born." Ron gapes at me silently from beside me, slowly his face forms to a frown as he looks between the two of us.
Harry's shoulders fall, frowning slightly, "Well, at least I can relate in that regard, right?" I smile, half shrugging, "Guess so."
The trolly witch comes by soon after, asking, "Anything off the trolly, dears?" I raise my hand ask for a chocolate frog, making sure that the window was closed to that I can catch it this time.
ANNNNND another chapter finished! Apologies for this one being so short, I had to write something for the 10th and final chapter of this story. *shrug* I will be coming back soon with another book! And the second book of this fanfic will be the 2nd year of school. If you love these long chapters as much as I do when editing them, I will continue with as many books/years of this Ron x Reader until I get sick of writing
