Instead of being mad like the girl had expected him to be, Stefan gave her a small smile. "A little bit after it happened, I was talking to Hayley. They're not dead, Poppy, they were put to sleep so that Hayley could find a cure for everything. They're safe."
Poppy looked at him, unsure how to feel. It shocked her. "What do you mean?"
"Hayley has them asleep in her attic. They're in some chamber de chase thing."
Poppy smirked a bit. "It's Chambre de Chasse, a place where your spirit can go, disconnected from the body, but still connected. Freya must've made one to save them." She smiled. "This is the best news I've gotten since Archie." Her voice was soft and a bit quiet.
"Can I see your phone?" The vampire asked.
She gave him a nod and he let go of her hands so she could reach into her sweatpants pocket. Pulling her phone out, she opened it up with her thumbprint and handed it to him. She watched curiously as he typed away. Looking up at her, Stefan placed the phone on the table.
"This is where she's at. Poppy, I want you to go see her, see your sister. Right now. You'll be safe enough to be around, just not for a long time." Stefan said, sliding the phone towards her. On the screen was the maps app, showing directions to a small farm.
Poppy looked at the phone, then at him. There was no way she would go see her sister. She took a breath. "Ah, you see I'm actually very tired right now-" she forced a yawn and covered her mouth as she did. "-so I can't." She stood up on her feet, but so did Stefan, who gave her a look.
"Do you want me to ground you?" He asked, folding his arms over his chest.
Poppy rolled her eyes. "I've been grounded before. It didn't last long." She looked at him, and he looked at her with a stern look. The two had a silent conversation. Stefan was being dominant, and Poppy was caving. After a few moments, she let out a groan. "Okay! Fine, I'll go, but I plan to be back here by noon."
Stefan smiled and kissed her forehead. "Take a jacket with you, it's cold. I love you, I'm going to bed."
I have no clue where
Hayley's Safe House
Poppy arrived at the house close to 5 AM, hugging her jacket close to her body when she stopped running. The sun wasn't up yet, so it was dark and quiet.
You have reached your destination. Siri spoke into her ear buds, her phone resting in the pocket of her thin jacket.
The woman let out a breath, which could be seen by the cold air. Reaching up to her ears, she took her earbuds out and shoved them into her pocket, looking at the residence in front of her. It was a two story white colored house surrounded by trees, some of them decorated by blue bottles hanging from thin rope. A rocky longish driveway lead up to the home.
Poppy wasn't sure what she was doing. She was on auto pilot. If it were her choice, she would have turned around a long time ago, which is what she'd rather do than see Hayley and her little sister. Though she didn't want to see Hope, she couldn't help but be curious to how much she had grown, so she walked down the driveway and to the porch.
She took a small breath and knocked, then took a step back. She heard some footsteps, then a small voice at the door.
"One minute, I'm going to get my mom." A small child spoke.
Poppy nodded, even though she couldn't be seen. "It's okay, I can wait." She replied, and the little girl ran from the door. About a minute later the door opened a bit, revealing Hayley, who wore pajamas and her hair in a loose ponytail. She had clearly prepared for an enemy, so she let out a breath of relief, but didn't let her guard down.
