This story fills in the gaps from the first Avengers movie up to my stories "All in a Brother's Love" and "A Little Bit of Mischief". It's from Sigyn's (Loki's girlfriend/future wife in the myths and comics) perspective. In light of recent MCU movies and shows, I decided to go through my old stories and fix some spelling, grammar, and plotline details. I am expanding the original version of this story but the plot will remain mostly the same with only a few added/changed details. Enjoy! :)

Chapter One: Villain by the Devil's Law
Shortly after the Battle of New York
The crowd pushed in all directions trying to get a glimpse of the soldiers marching the fallen prince right through the city and to the palace. Some people pulled their children closer in an attempt to shield them away from the accused murderer while also peering over each other to jeer at him.
The soldiers, it seemed, were enjoying the dramatization like they were proving a point by humiliating the prisoner. Normally, the soldiers kept the crowds away from any potential prisoners and there were hefty punishments if an unarmed criminal got injured while on the way to trial or the dungeons. This time, however, the crowds could get close enough to throw rocks, food, and any other throwable items at the chained prisoner, and the soldiers did nothing to stop it, not even yell at people.
The worst part about it, everyone knew about the prince's true parentage, and the knowledge had spread like a shockwave across Asgard at the realization a Frost Giant—and the son of Laufey himself—had been masquerading as Odin's second, less favored son for centuries.
Some had claimed they knew the difference and could always tell the dark-haired prince had something sinister lurking beneath. Some people, like Sigyn's parents, felt affirmed in their previous convictions that Prince Loki would always turn into something truly troublesome for Asgard.
Sigyn had known Loki since her childhood. They had grown up together and, as many young hearts do, fell in love long before they even received their godly dominions. As the goddess of loyalty and compassion, she tried her best to not cast judgment before getting to know someone. She thought she knew Loki—assumed he wouldn't do what he had done—but apparently, even the goddess of loyalty can be betrayed.
Angry eyes watched the disgraced prince walk slowly through the crowded street. Several soldiers guided him along, pulling roughly on his large, heavy chains attached to shackles at his wrists, waist, and ankles. A muzzle prevented him from speaking, something the Liesmith must detest because he could not even respond to the jeers and insults hurled at him along with the rocks.
The soldiers did not even attempt to quell the ruckus, seemingly holding something against the prisoner despite Loki being the same man they had so faithfully protected all those years ago. All personal connections with the prince were severed almost immediately once the royal scribes announced the news of what he had done.
Sigyn tried to remain impassive and optimistic, but any rationalization for his actions led to dead ends and only made her feel worse.
"I knew he was trouble," Iwaldi, Sigyn's father, said. He stood a whole head above her, his stocky frame dwarfing her slimmer size. His thick brown beard masked his frown, but his blue eyes pinched in familiar irritation. Even his numerous freckles looked angry, some of the spots hidden beneath his long hair and beard.
His huge hand clamped down on Sigyn's shoulder when the soldiers and Loki approached.
Beside her, Linnea, her mother, wrung her hands and shook her head in disgust. The wind blew her long, ginger locks, and her violet eyes hardened when Loki drew closer.
