Molly's POV

"Are you coming?" I ask as soon as I answer the phone.

"I'm sorry Molly," Felix apologizes, "My mom caught me trying to sneak out then caught me in a lie then found out that I snuck out last night. I can't. I'm under house arrest."

"That really fucking sucks," I sigh, trying to figure out how I'm gonna do this now.  I crouch lower and move to the next set of trash cans, hiding from the skinny person in an all too familiar coat that's currently up ahead of me.

"I can still help!" Felix yells, "I mean I have my dad's old police radio, and I can Google shit and whatever else you need."

"Felix, I already found someone. I'll call you back later if I need something," I assure him.

"But-"

"Bye Felix," I cut in, ending the call. The person ducks into a restaurant. I swear then follow them in. Of course it's Ashton's fucking workplace. Please don't let him be here yet.

No such luck. I almost immediately spot his curly hair. He's waiting on a table, a friendly smile on his face. The person I've been following sits at a table right next to Ashton. I swear again. Before I can sulk too much, the ground is shaking violently, and the power is flickering. Same old party trick as every other time. I grab into the wall for support. Then it stops and, shocker, the person is up on the table, a gun in the air. I study their face and realize that the guy is just a teenager, maybe a year or two older than me. Rage fills my body. I look around and spot Ashton on the ground right in front of the table. He looks terrified. My stomach turns nervously.

"Tremor, our soon to be leader, is in need of financial support and followers. Who wants to be the first to offer up their services?" He calls, a malicious, yet calm grin on his face. I stay low, creeping around the outskirts of the restaurant. Sneak attack. It's deadly quiet in here.

"No one? How very disappointing." Suddenly the gun fires. Screams. It's aimed at a little boy near the table. Ashton, being the stupid hero he is, lurches forward, pushing the kid out of the way. His arm is grazed by the bullet. He falls to the ground, clutching his injured arm. Blood rushes from his wound. My vision goes red. Fuck the sneak attack.

I jump up and charge. I focus on the gun and will it to come to me as I run. It does easily. I toss it into an open plant and tackle the boy. He and I hit the ground. Something cracks. I pin his arms to the ground, sitting on his torso. He struggles beneath me.

"Where is Tremor hiding out?" I demand, "Tell me and maybe I'll go easy on you."

He snarls and flips us, punching me in the head, "He's waiting for you, Psyche." Police sirens wail in the distance, growing closer. He grabs my throat, choking me. My vision starts to get black when I see Ashton over to the side, looking terrified. Blood is still rushing from his wound. I have to help him. The blue energy goes rushing down my entire body, sending the goon flying backwards into a table. He stays down. I jump up and move over to his body, looking at it cautiously. Nothing. I decide he's out and move back to Ashton. I drop down beside him.

"Um, hi," Ashton mutters nervously as I move his hand away. I'm well aware of the cell phones trained on us.

"This is gonna hurt," I warn as put one of my hands over his wound. Ashton's face scrunches up in pain as I push down and will the blue energy to heal it.

He catches me looking at his face and flashes me a grin, "Just a little sting."

I roll my eyes, a small smile on my face, "I can see the pain in your eyes, but okay." I pull my hand away revealing the healed wound. Ashton stares at his arm in amazement. I get up, ready to meet Chief Owens outside.

"Thank you," he breathes out, "That was amazing, Psyche." I shrug and give him another small smile before going and over to the teen. I pull his body up and drag him out to the cops. I push him into the arms of one of the officers as he's sort of coming to.

"Psyche," Chief Owens calls. I move over to her. She passes me the five twenties, which I immediately tuck into my pocket. "Please leave Felix out of this. He doesn't know what he's doing. I don't want to see him hurt."

"I can't control what people do, Chief," I tell her, "He can help. He will help. It's just a matter of whether he's sneaking around or not. But the more you support him, the better off he'll be." She bites her lip as I turn and rush off, slipping down an alley to avoid being caught in the chaos.

After a few minutes, I leave the alley, ducking down and moving quickly along buildings to try to stay in the shadows. My phone buzzes against my leg. I pull it out and answer.

"You're amazing, Molly," Felix immediately compliments, "Who was that guy you saved? You looked like you knew him."

"One of my brother's friends. Can we talk tomorrow. I'm still out and don't want anyone hearing this."

"Yeah. I'll see you at school," he agrees. I bid him goodbye, put my phone away, and lower my head as I keep walking back to the apartment. Unfortunately the lowered head caused me to run right into someone.

"Oh sorry. I did- Psyche?" Fuck. I really can't catch a break tonight. I look up at Luke, Calum, and Michael. They stare at me with open mouths. Oh how I'd really fucking love to have invisibility right now.

"You're my hero," Michael finally chokes out.

"Thanks. Gotta go," I reply before I take off running in the opposite direction of the apartment. I mentally curse as I realize I'm gonna have to loop around to beat Luke back home and avoid seeing them again.
