Trapped in Magicant

Ness and his friends made it to the final sanctuary location after a long and tough battle with the Diamond Dog. Paula glanced over at him before the went in. "You have the tape recorder with you, right?" She asked. Ness nodded. "Of course I have it. Why would I just forget it? Anyways, it's all on you. Record your voice, and say the things that talking rock told you to say."

Paula agreed, pressing the record button on the recorder. She spoke into it. "You are Ness. You must escape the realm of your mind, and return to your friends." She stopped recording. "Still don't know what that means." Jeff cleared his throat. "I believe it is a reminder of his memories. The talking stone said that if Ness is distracted from his true goal, he loses his memory. The tape recorder will remind him of us whenever it plays."

Ness nodded at Jeff's conclusion. He got the melody from the Fire Spring, and he listened to all eight of the melodies together. The full song was very calming. He remembered his past, and his parents watching over him as a baby. Once arriving in the realm of his mind, Magicant, he knew exactly what to do. It was quite obvious anyways.

First, he needed to rest and heal. He spoke to his mother. "Ness, I can make some steak for you. And you can stay here as long as you want." Ness shook his head at the second offer. "Oh, no no no. If I stay with you, I'll forget who I am, and be stuck here forever." His mother merely smiled. "That sounds like fun. This place is a paradise, after all!" Ness still refused. "Nope, not gonna happen. Besides, I've come prepared." He pulled out the tape recorder, playing the message.

"You are Ness. You must escape the realm of your mind, and return to your friends."

Ness nodded at the message. "Yes. I am Ness, and I must escape the realm of my mind, and return to my friends."

Ness continued to wander around Magicant. Luckily, he kept repeating his goal in his head over and over. So he never got distracted. But there were a few times where he lost it. One of them was when there were a few comets in the sky. Ness stopped to look at them. "Wow..." His eyes became reflective, lightly glimmering, signaling that he forgot who he was. "Wait, what was I doing again?" He asked himself. Then his tape recorder turned on, and Paula's voice rang in his ears. Maybe it activates whenever he loses his memory. He remembered as soon as the message played.

He lost it again when he met his younger self. "Hey, it's me when I'm older!" The little one cried. "You wanna play with me?" He asked. The older Ness shook his head. "Sorry, got no time. I gotta get going." He started back on his way. "Where are you off to?" The younger one asked. "I'm on my way to..." He froze, his eyes returning to their reflective state. This time the tape recorder didn't play a message right away. "So, you want to stay, right?" The younger one asked. "Sure. Sounds like fun."

He remained in Magicant for little while, with some other people he's met before. Or were they people he's met? He didn't remember. He sat on the ground, staring up at the stars. They glimmered just as much as his eyes. He heard noise coming from one of his pajama pockets. He grabbed what was making it, and it was the tape recorder, playing the message. It clicked in his mind. "Oh no, what have I been doing? I gotta keep going! Darn it, it happened again!"

Ness eventually got to the Sea of Eden, after hearing that message over and over, due to getting distracted. He was standing in front of his evil side. But it wasn't what he was expecting.

The fight went as normal. Ness won the battle. The statue started to crumble, but it didn't stop there. It used the last of it's strength to snatch the tape recorder from Ness. Once it had it, the monstrous statue destroyed it. Ness had then lost his memory due to the statue distracting him with it's demise, and Ness now had no way to remind himself.

He was trapped in Magicant.
