My body feels as it's just leaped or pounced out of no where.
I look around rapidly and I'm so grateful as I've been sprung back in to reality.
But, once I get my bearings, I realise that Mikasa is screaming beside me.
I lean up quickly and see the real Mikasa crying her eyes out and gripping on to the bed.
I'm so relieved to see that it's tears, and not blood.
My second reaction is to grab hold of her and cradle her.
"Mikasa, Mikasa- Mikasa listen to me!"
She is still moaning loudly, she seems scared out of her life.
She grips onto me tightly and cries harder in my chest.
I tighten my hold on her.
"Mikasa, it's ok! I'm here... Please stop crying." I say as she quietens down.
"It was real! It was so real!" She cries out to me.
"It's ok, it's ok. It wasn't real..." I rock back and forth, her still in my arms.
A nightmare.
I lift up her face with my hands and say "I'm here...I'll always be here."
* * *
I make breakfast instead of her.
I manage to make the toast without it burning to a crisp, and I hard boil an egg, as I'm not good at frying it.
I serve the food on the table; Mikasa's first.
She looks depressed...
I've got to help her.I put my plate down and take her hand.
"Are you ok?" I ask.
She nods her head, but it's no where near convincing.
I kneel down next to her.
"What happened in that dream?"
She sighs and then says,
"It wasn't a dream, it was a nightmare. Dream is an understatement."I nod understandingly and say,
"So what happened?"When a tear falls down her face I immediately regret what I had asked.
I wipe it away, "It doesn't matter. Don't think about it, ok?"
She nods.
Now I have decided.
I must do something to make her happy, I don't want this nightmare to take her over, especially that I don't know why she feels like this. It's very unlike her, but I won't dare ask her why.
"Eat your breakfast, yeah?"
I say standing up.
I'm going to go out, and I'm going to try and find another person to help me do this one thing for the girl I saved six years ago.
I must save her again.
