We get to my house, and we still haven't said a word.
The silence is so pressuring but we don't break it.
I open the door, thinking I should try to apologize again, but I just don't think it's acceptable."Thanks, I'll talk you later, alright?" I say before I close the door to the car.
He nods, almost with a faulty smile, and I close the door.
He quietly backs out, and goes down the road.
He doesn't even see if I make it in my house.
Erin left her spare key under my welcome mat since mine is in the house.
She knows what to do.
I open my door, and come in to a nice clean tidy house. Everything is how it should be even before I had a party.
Erin is so damn great.
I sit down on the couch, and listen in to my own silence.
My eyes well up with tears.
How embarrassing, it is.
I get my phone from my back pocket, and text Erin to say thank you.
Jim texts me.
Hey. He says.
Hey. Don't text me if you're driving. I say back.
I'll be fine, I just have to talk to you.
I roll my eyes.
You could've talked to me in the car. I quickly type back.
I couldn't think of words to say. I'm sorry.
I guess now suddenly he can?
Say what you have to say then, Halpert.
The typing bubbles reappear.
Look, I still like Pam, but I want to be with you more. I really did mess up. I should be hanging out with my actual girlfriend. I'm so sorry. I don't know what got into me. I saw that she didn't have a ring on her finger anymore, and I just...I don't know. Old memories came back.
I don't know what to say to you. I think I'll need some time to myself.
Wait so you're breaking up with me? Jim texts back.
Is he that excited to get with Pam now?
No. I just need a break. Time to think. I think you need some time too. I say.
Alright. I understand. He says back.
He texts me again.
Goodbye for now (y/n).
I don't say anything back, and turn off my phone screen.
More soon, sorry, I've been busy lately! 💞
