Delilah sat with Arlo in his room. He hadn't finished the lego set yet, so he was working on the last of it. They were quiet. She didn't have much to say, especially after what her parents mentioned only a few days ago. Arlo and her life was going to turn upside down, especially when their parents started their battle between their drug-ridden and alcoholic birth mother.
Arlo was smart. He would figure out soon enough what was going to happen. She would be there one hundred percent for him.
"Hey, bubba."
"Hm, what?"
"You know I love you right?"
He looked at her confused, "Yeah.."
"Good. I just wanted to tell you."
"Look I finished it!" He exclaimed.
It was the millennium falcon set and it looked cooler than what the box had looked like. "Good job, bubba! It looks amazing."
He looked proud, with a big grin and his chest puffed out. She reached over and messed his hair. "Stop it." He pushed her hand away and then fixed his hair. "You always do that."
"Sorry, I couldn't help myself. You're just too cute."
"I'm not cute!"
"Oh, than what are you?"
"Handsome."
"Handsome? Yes, I think that is correct."
He smiled again. "I know."
"Hey, you're supposed to say thank you."
"Whatever."
She shook her head, "You crazy boy."
Her phone dinged from a notification. Jake had texted her.

Her mom walked into the room. She looked exhausted and her shoulders were down. She was having a rough time, that's why Delilah was trying her best to be upbeat for everyone in the house. Her mother, and her dad, were trying their best, but it would take a toll emotionally on the whole family. Thankfully, her father was a lawyer and they didn't need to pay for one. That would take a financial toll.
