Alternate Universe, though I tried to keep it close.

Pietro opened his eyes. He coughed up the dirty air as he tried to stand up. He finally was aware enough to see what was going on.

There was rubble all around him. The rubble was what remained of his house. His eyes opened wide in realization, and he needed to find his mother and Wanda.

He got up and began frantically looking. He found Wanda, but she had passed out. He picked her up and put her in a safe area. Then, he looked for his mother.

His heart shattered when he found her. Half of her body was underneath the rubble. He ran to her and grabbed her hand.

"Mother."

She slowly looked to him and tried to smile. "My son... Know that I love you and your sister very much."

Pietro tried not to cry, but he felt tears slip down his face.

"My brave boy. Promise to your mother that you'll take care of Wanda."

"I... I promise mother."

Then she let go of his hand. She pulled the ring off her finger and placed it in his hand. "I want you to take my ring. I... I know that... you'll find the perfect woman to... make your bride one day. Propose with my ring Pietro, and let it live on through your children. When I go... Take my necklace and give it to Wanda. I want you both to have a piece of me."

Pietro nodded, and her breathing began to get slower and slower. "Know that even though I won't be here physically I'll always be with you both in your hearts."

"I love you mother. I promise to do my best to take care of Wanda. I love you Mama."

"I... Love you... Too..."

Pietro looked at the ring that was his mother's. He kissed it before placing it back near his heart where it hung on a necklace. They never figured out what caused the building to collapse. He and Wanda were only ten at the time. No orphanage would take them because of his unnatural silver hair.

Pietro remembered that was when he began to steal. He knew it was wrong, but it was the only way he knew how to keep Wanda alive. It got to the point where Wanda almost wanted to be taught how to steal.

When she wanted to learn, Pietro's heart sunk. He knew he had to do something. That's why he decided to sneak them both on a boat to America. It was the place he heard on TV as the land of opportunity. He hoped it was true so neither of them would have to thieve anymore.

Now Pietro and Wanda were turning eighteen on the verge of landing in America. All was well until a man and woman walked up to them.

"Hello." The blonde headed man greeted.

Pietro didn't know what to do. His mother taught him English as a second language, but he wasn't sure if he felt comfortable talking.

"It's okay. We want to help you. In fact, if anyone asks, you are our children. Hello, my name is Natasha Barton."

"And I'm Clint Barton."

They both stretched out their arms, and Wanda shook Clint's hand first. If she trusted them, Pietro knew he could trust them.

They knew about Pietro and Wanda, and they knew about their powers. Their powers partially helped keep them alive.

Clint and Natasha told them that they worked for an organization that had been observing them, and now they were going to take the twins under their care.

Pietro wondered why they didn't take them sooner, but he was happy that these people cared. Eventually they made it to their new home, which was a farmhouse in the country. The twins finally had a home, food, water, clothes, and a dog named Lucky.

Pietro sat on his bed and looked at his mother's ring. He missed her dearly, but he knew she was still in his heart. He sometimes had nightmares about her, but he was glad Wanda didn't have to see their mother like that.

Then he wondered if he'd ever find a girl to marry like his mother said. He'd even have dreams of the girl he'd propose to. Everytime he dreamed of her, she always looked the same.

The only thing was that he didn't know her name. Of course he wouldn't know her name in his dreams. If he knew her name, he'd probably do anything he could to search for her. Pietro knew he was rushing things, but he was scared he might never fulfill his promise to his mama.

Pietro kissed the ring before he placed it back near his heart. He rested in his comfortable bed and closed his eyes wondering what he would dream of.

Pietro woke up the next day to realize he didn't have any dreams or nightmares at all. He went downstairs to see everyone eating breakfast. He sat down and grabbed all the food he wanted.

Clint and Natasha were going to take the twins to their work so they could make sure it was okay for Pietro and Wanda to live with them. Pietro could tell Wanda was nervous, so he held her hand and whispered comforting words to her in Sokovian.

They arrived and were lead to a small room with an oval table. They all sat at the table waiting for the director. When he came in, Natasha and Clint stood up. Right when the twins were about to get up, Clint and Natasha sat back down.

Pietro tried to pay attention, but he was too busy thinking about what might happen to them if the director said no.

He felt Wanda nudge him, and he finally began to pay attention. The director agreed to let them stay with the Bartons as long as they would work for the agency. Thankfully, Wanda was actually listening and knew that it wouldn't be so bad. They both agreed to work with the agency.

The next thing he knew, everyone was was leaving except for Wanda and him. She said someone their age was going to tell them more about the agency and what they would be doing.

"Pietro... Are you okay? You've been holding onto mother's ring this whole time."

Pietro looked down to realize Wanda was right. She held his free hand, and he looked at her nodding his head.

"I'm fine."

Then, he heard the door open. Pietro watched the person enter the room, and his heart raced.

With one look, Pietro knew he found her. He found the girl in his dreams, and he would marry her. It didn't have to be anywhere in the near future, but he just knew.

"Hi I'm y/n."
