PRESENT TIME"Good morning Ms. Yoo" a staff member welcomed me with a warm smile as I entered the building where I was currently working. I responded with a smile and proceeded to the elevator.
While waiting for it, I rolled up my sleeves to check my wristwatch. Not too late, not too early, just a perfect time to be in my office. I could feel and hear the stares and the whispers of the people around me. I could only sigh because it was already an everyday occurrence here. Thankfully, the elevator door opened in front of me. I turned to my side and saw two ladies gawking at me while whispering to each other. They froze when our eyes met and so, I threw them a smile before entering the lift leaving them squirming and squealing on their spot.
"Good morning Ma'am Yoo!" My assistant greeted me with such enthusiasm that I already got used to. Not gonna lie, I like her energy.
"Good morning to you too, so what are the appointments for today?" I asked her while settling my things on the desk.
"Uhm… Let me see, it's not so many, just four meetings this morning and counseling at noon and another set of meetings from the board in the evening." she said while looking at her tab.
"You're right, not so many" I said, sighing as I started my work. She bowed before letting herself sit at her own desk.
"Oh Ms. Hirai, can you get me some coffee please" I asked her and she gladly followed me. Oh, what a good assistant of mine.
She had been working with me for a year and I could say it was not that easy handling her at first but as time went by, I noticed her improvement. I could see her dedication and passion for her work so I knew that the time I spent teaching her didn't go to waste.
After several minutes, she was back, handing me a cup of black coffee. I mouthed 'thank you' and took a sip from it. I shouldn't forget to mention that the coffee made by her will always be my favorite. It tastes heavenly as the aroma invades my system. I love it.
I proceeded to do my morning tasks, went to several conferences and counseling. The day passed by with me barely having a rest but it was what I was already used to. It was how my days went on everyday. Wake up, work, go home, sleep, wake up then repeat.
I was walking through the hallway, going back to my office after successfully finishing the last appointment for today.
"Ms. Yoo!" a voice called me. I turned around to see an intern running towards me. I stood there, waiting for her to speak.
"Uhm... Hi.." she awkwardly spoke.
"Hi, Miss..." I squinted my eyes to read her name on her tag.
"Jie... Jie" I couldn't really read it because I had poor eyesight and I was not wearing my specs at the moment.
"It's Jiequiong but you can call me Pinky" she said as she brought her hand to tuck her hair behind her ear. I smiled as I found it cute.
"So-"
"Please take this gift I made for you" she said, handing me a box with cute wrappings. I chuckled as I watched her battle her shyness. I took it from her hand because she looked like she was about to burst from how red her face was.
"Thank you for this gift, I appreciate your effort in preparing this." I said, giving her a nod. "So.." I waited for her.
"Thank you, Ma'am Yoo. I really looked up to you even before I started my internship here and your braveness on that grand event made me even more happy. I couldn't contain my happiness so… sorry for taking much of your time, Ms. Yoo. I just wanted to congratulate you and tell you that a lot of people are inspired and proud of you! Please, excuse me now" she bowed before running away.
What's with that girl? She's cute and weird.
To be honest, I was speechless. I had been pondering if what I did that time was right, but I was glad to learn that what I did was not in vain.
I proceeded to my office and was greeted by my assistant sleeping on my desk. I was about to wake her up and scold her but I saw my desktop open. I looked for my mouse and she was still holding it. I sighed and just shook my head. I carefully got the mouse out of her grip and started checking my documents, it was almost finished and surprisingly, there was no error on it. It made me smile as I saved her progress before turning off my computer.
I sat on the provided couch in my office, waiting for her to wake up. After a while, I looked at my watch and saw the time was pretty late already, and judging by the way this girl slept, I didn't think she was planning to wake up from her dreamland any moment soon so I decided to stand up and wake her up.
I approached the peacefully sleeping girl and tapped her cheeks lightly. She opened her eyes slowly and looked at me. After blinking a few times, her eyes widened as she jumped out of her seat causing our heads to bump into each other.
"Oww!" I groaned as I held my forehead.
Momo, even though she was obviously more hurt, stood up to check on me.
"I'm sorry, Ms. Yoo, forgive me! Does it hurt? I'm sorry, you can give me a penalty and I will take it willfully, you can let me finish your documents for months, you can let me clean this whole office for weeks, you can hit me if you want to–"I cut her rapping apology with my hands.
"Yah! I'm okay, I'm not that evil to give you punishments because you accidentally hit my head.. with your head. Just be careful next time..." I said as I let go of her mouth. She pouted her lips, looking guilty. I just chuckled. She was pretty clumsy but her clumsiness just made her more cute and I like it.
"Let's see.." I brushed her bangs up and saw her forehead red just like mine. Well, the impact was not a joke.
"I guess we need to put ice on it..."

"I'm really sorry Ms. Yoo" Momo apologized for the hundredth time.
We were sitting on the bench located in front of the pharmacy where we bought our cold compress.
"You don't really need to apologize, Momoring" I said.
"Momoring..." Momo uttered slowly. I think she was shy because of the nickname I gave to her.
To be clear, we already established friendship under the boss and assistant relationship we had but I guess, she was still not getting used to it. I just smiled when she didn't speak anymore.
We were both looking up with our cold compress laying on our foreheads.
"Ms. Yoo-"
"Call me Jeongyeon, work is done" I said.
"But--"
"Just call me that" I said.
"Jeongyeon unnie.."
"Better" I smiled.
She stood up suddenly that shook me. I sit properly and look at her. She was staring down at me.
"Uhm…?"
"Thank you for this Jeongyeon unnie! I'm being too much bother to you and you wasted a lot of time because of me, I'm going now.." she said while bowing.
She was about to go when I called her.
"No, let me drive you home" I said
"No I'm okay Jeongyeon u-" I cut her again
"I said it's okay. Besides, a cute hard-working girl like you shouldn't go home alone by this time" I showed my wristwatch to her showing what time it was already. 11:47 PM.
I saw her blush and I found it cute so I chuckled quietly.
"Let's go now" I said as I ushered her to my car.
There was no more happening while I was driving her to her apartment because she fell asleep. Sleepyhead. One of her traits that made it hard to train her.
I woke her up as soon as we arrived at her place and we bid goodbyes as I drove away to my home. It had been quite a long day for me but I guess it was fun.
