Four Years Ago;
Laughing as I sat in the bar with my new partner, at the agency. A smile formed into my lips as she went on about her brother but kept saying she resented him. "Hattie, how can you resent your brother? When all you do is talk about him?" I ask her smiling.
"Because." Her British accent lingering in her words. "He turned his back on his family. He betrayed us and turned rogue." Hattie sighed.
"Maybe." I reply staring at her. "But did you think it could be a set up?" I suggest trying to give her a brighter side to it.
"No." Hattie simply states slipping her beer sighing. "I better call it quits tonight. I'll see you tomorrow, bright and early Chica." She grins.
"See you tomorrow." I wave at her watching her walk out of the pub and hail a cab.
Soon she's out of sight as I take and mess with the beer bottle. I knew who Hattie's older brother was. It was the same man that had tried to kill my own brother. Sighing softly I run my finger along the rim of my beer bottle. Seeing my phone light up from beside the bottle, my older brother's name appears. Smiling I slid it to answer placing it up to my ear. "Hey." I reply.
"Was you thinking about me?" He laughs.
"Yeah." I smile. "I miss you guys." I tell him softly. "Are you all ok?" I ask.
"We're fine. I promise." He assures me.
"I'll see you soon, bub. I have to go get out of this pub and get some rest." I tell him.
"Love ya, bug." He tells me.
"Love ya, too." I reply ending the call.
Getting to my feet, I sigh heavily heading to my apartment. Once I arrive, I fall flat onto my back on the couch. Closing my eyes, I let my memories of that one night stand consume...
