"Riley, time to go home." He said into my ear.
"What? No! I don't wanna go."
He laughed. "It's four am, they're about to close."
I pouted as if that would convince Luca for us to stay.
"Come on, party animal," He chuckled, "let's go."
When we got out of Karma -we were the last ones- everyone was waiting for the cabs. Leo had a tall, red haired girl -who definitely wasn't there before- under his arm.
Guess he wasn't sleeping alone.
"Do yo wanna crash at my place?"
I was humming a song and didn't realize the question was meant for me.
"Riley."
"Hmh?"
"I asked if you wanted to crash at my place."
Before I could open my mouth, he explained himself. "Uhm, it's easier for the cabs and stuff, you live in the other direction. I can sleep in the couch, you can have my bedroom."
At that moment, everything they'd say to me seemed like the greatest idea.
"Okay." I shrugged nonchalantly.
Sam, Jenny, Martina and Ace took a cab, and Josh, Luca and I took another. Oh yeah, and Leo took a third one with that red haired girl.
I was in the backseats with Luca when my stomach grumbled. Now that I thought of it, I hadn't have dinner and at Luca's place I was too busy talking with Martina and trying to mingle with everyone that I completely forgot about eating.
I poked Luca's ribs. "Luca."
"What?"
It was at that moment that I realized that alcohol made Luca calmer. He was so chill it was weird. He was always so spontaneous, crazy and cheerful. He was still really touchy though. He proved that when he rested the palm of his hand on my knee.
"I'm hungry." I complained with a pout.
"We have food at my apartment." He talked like a father would talk to his child.
"Good." I grinned glancing out the window. "I like food."
Shaking his head amusedly, he didn't remove his hand from my knee. Instead, he started rubbing his thumb around it in soft circles. The alcohol I consumed was starting to show its effects in the form of sleepiness.
"I'm just gonna..." I said groggily as I rested my head on Luca's shoulder. My eyelids felt heavy as I stared out the window.
And before I could even realize it, I fell asleep.
"Riri." Luca said softly into my ear as he tried to sit me up. "We're here."
I nodded, my eyes still a little closed and let him pull me out of the cab. When we arrived upstairs I was a little more awake, and I didn't forget he promised to give me food.
"Luca-"
"I know." He laughed. "Go to my room and I'll bring something to eat, okay?"
Not being in the mood to argue, I did as I was told and walked slowly towards his bedroom. I looked at his pictures on the wall once again, now recognizing all his friends. I even identified one where two very different boys smiled in their own way. The first one was obviously Luca, his hair a little longer than it was now, but the same childish face as he smiled widely. His arm was wrapped along a very changed Ace, his messy hair a little lighter, a small smile in his face. The two of them were holding medals and were wearing soccer uniforms.
