Having Chris home was so surreal and amazing. I never knew how much I could miss him until he left for almost two months. It was the hardest thing for the both of us but for some reason I feel like it's brought us even closer together.
We were both able to grow individually and have alone time and I feel like that's something we both needed too. Our relationship seemed better than ever and I was so thankful that everything was working out so well. He meant so much to me.
"Good morning my gorgeous girl", Chris hums as he turns to me. I lay my head on his chest as he wraps his muscular arms around me, bringing me the warmth I was lacking. "Good morning", I whisper to him as I snuggle closer to him.
"Can we just stay here all day?", Chris mumbles as he plays with my hair. I laugh at him before nodding my head, "I'm not opposed to that"
"We can't though", he says excitedly. I turn to look at him, confused by his sudden change in mood. "Why not? Why are you so excited all of a sudden?"
"Because, I'm taking you out today"
"Oh really? Where?"
"Well I'm not telling you that, it'll ruin the element of surprise", he tells me as he gets out of bed. "Now get out of bed and get ready"
"What do I wear?"
"Something casual but not too casual", he smiles at me as I get out of bed. I eye him suspiciously but wave it off knowing he's just happy that we're together again. I walk into the bathroom, leaving the door slightly open so that the bathroom wouldn't overheat from my shower. I get rid of my pyjamas and throw them into the hamper as I step into the shower, turning the dial to the warm side.
This was the happiest and most relaxed I've ever felt and I was so grateful for it. I was one lucky girl and I knew not to take anything in my life for granted. I had gone through so much in my life to get to this point in my life and despite the pain it brought me, I wouldn't change a single thing.
After my shower I walked into our room to try and find a suitable outfit for today. I settled with a colourful dress and a pair of wedges. I wasn't used to getting so dressed up seeing as my normal day to day clothing consisted of either an oversized sweater and a pair of tights or on rare occasions, a pair of jeans and a shirt.
"Babe are you almost ready?", I hear Chris call from the bottom of the stairs. "Yeah, just give me a second"
I add the final touches to my look as I walk down the stairs to greet Chris. He takes my hand and leads me to his car as he opens the door for me, "Thank you"
"First thing on our agenda today is breakfast", he smiles at me as he interlocks our hands. I smile knowing that he knew just how much I loved going out for breakfast. We arrived at the little breakfast place in a few minutes seeing as it wasn't too far from our house.
Chris runs over to my side of the car to open my door as he grabs my hand in his. We walk inside the restaurant as we get seated immediately. Already knowing what I want I close the menu and push it off to the side. "This is nice. We haven't been able to do this in almost two months", I say as I look at Chris. He looks up from his menu and smiles at me lovingly, "I told you we could do it. It wasn't easy but we got through it which proves that we can tackle any obstacle together"
"I know, I love you. So how did the movie turn out?", I ask him as the waitress comes by to pour us some coffee. I thank her before looking at Chris. "Filming went well, except for the little setback but from what I've seen it looks pretty good. The premiere is in a week from now and you're coming with me"
"That sounds good with me", I laugh as the waitress comes back to our table. She takes our orders before leaving. "So what's the plan for today?"
"You'll just have to wait and see"
"I hate when you do that", I sigh as he just smirks at me. "You look beautiful, I've missed seeing your face"
"I missed you too. That was the longest month and a half of my life. It was so agonizing. The house was so quiet and empty", I smile sadly as I think back to how I coped during the time Chris was gone. "I never realized how hard it would actually be, you know? I knew it wasn't going to be easy but I never expected it to be as hard as it was"
"Well the good thing is that we got through it", I tell him as I place my hand on his. We're interrupted by the waitress as she brings us our food. We immediately begin to eat as we continue to conversate. Once we're done we pay and leave.
"Okay our next destination is quite a drive so get comfortable, okay?"
"How long of a drive"
"I'm not telling you it'll give it away. You can rest for the entire drive and I'll wake you up when we arrive, okay?", he tells me as he turns on the radio. "Fine", I huff as I close my eyes. The music slowly put me to sleep as I rest my head against the window.
What seemed like only minutes later I felt someone shaking me awake. I open my eyes to be faced with Chris' beautiful eyes staring into my own. "We're here", he smiles at me. He takes my hand and helps me out of the car as I pat down my dress. We walk for a few minutes before we reach a beautiful beach. The water was as clear as the blue skies and the sand was soft and light. I undo my shoes as I carry them in my hands.
Chris and I walk hand in hand near the water as we enjoy this beautiful day. I walk in front of Chris as I splash my feet around the water. I laugh as the cold water touches my feet, making me pull my feet away. Chris was behind me taking pictures of me as I enjoyed the beauty that was nature.
We continue to walk along the beach as I continue to walk in front of Chris. After a few minutes Chris had gone silent. I turn around and gasp as I look at him. He was down on one knee, a small box in his hands. He opens it as he smiles up at me. I throw my shoes to the side as I look at him, tears welling up in my eyes.
"Ella, from the first day we met I knew you'd be the woman I'd marry. You changed my life and brought back a side of me that I haven't seen in years. You've made me a better person and a better man. You're my entire world and I can't imagine life without you. You're the most beautiful girl I've ever seen and I'm so lucky I get to call you mine. I'm so lucky that I get to live with you and be around you everyday. It's a true blessing and I thank my lucky stars everyday that God put you in my life when he did. You're such an intelligent, hardworking, kind, down to earth, ambitious, beautiful, and strong girl and I'm so proud of you. You make me the happiest man alive and I love you to the moon and back. You're my other half and my everything, so what I'm trying to say is, Ella Jade Lombardi, will you marry me?"
I gasp as I look into his eyes. I did not expect this day to turn out like this. I was so overwhelmed with happiness. I nod my head as more tears stream down my face, "Yes!", I jump into Chris' arms as I kiss him. He lifts me up into the air as I smile down at him. He sets me down and grabs my hand, slipping the beautiful ring on my finger. I didn't even look at the ring when Chris got down on one knee so now that I was finally able to look at it I was in shock. It was absolutely beautiful. The reflection of the sun made the ring glimmer as I continued to admire it.
I heard snapping beside us and realized that there was a photographer taking pictures of us. "I love you so much", I tell Chris as I hug him again. He picks me up and spins me around as I let out an excited scream. "I love you too, Mrs Evans"
"That has a nice ring to it, Mr Evans"

Ahhhh my babies are engaged!! Finally! I was so happy writing this chapter. I didn't want to make it too long and cheesy because that's just not how Ella and Chris are but I tried my best to make the moment cute.
