Peter sat at the unusually quiet table, pushing his food around his plate, not eating anything. He felt the looks he was getting, he couldn't handle anything at that moment. The silence, the stares, the thoughts in his head.

He carried on pushing his food around, looking down at his phone on the table every so often so see if Mj had text him. Or Ned.

He soon heard his phone start ringing causing everyone to look up as Peter looked down. He saw Ned's mom was calling him.

He felt panic, he picked it up before standing up. Peter felt all eyes on him as he rushed out the door, he knew they'd soon start asking Tony questions again. But it didn't bother him.

He walked outside, he sat on the bench before he answered. He heard her crying.

"Is Ned..?"

"I'm so sorry Peter. You two were so close," she said, she sounded so broken. "He was in surgery, they done everything they could. But he...he didn't make it."

"Oh my god," he said quietly, he wasn't sure if she even heard him, tears began forming in his eyes. But he felt numb.

"Peter..I know how much he cared about you, I know how hard this must be. He..he truly loved you, I'm..I'm so sorry."

"I loved him too. I should've been there, I..I shouldn't have left him maybe..maybe.." he said he couldn't stop the tears in his eyes from falling.

"You couldn't have done anything. You'd just be in the same position."

"Maybe that's not a bad thing," he said with no emotion in his voice.

"You can't think like that Peter," she was still crying, he felt bad for putting this on her. Now of all times. "He'd want you to keep living, you've had a lot of hard times I know that. But I also know your one of the strongest people I've ever met. If you ever want to come over you can, I'll be there if you need someone."

"Thank you. And..I'm really sorry. About everything."

"So am I."

Peter spoke to her a little longer, her cries didn't stop. And he hated that he didn't know how to help, if there even was a way to help.

Peter put his phone down on the bench and looked at the sky. It looked a little like how he felt, like it was going to rain. A storm was coming.

He didn't know how long he sat there, but by the time someone sat next to him and put a hand on his shoulder it was raining.

"Everything okay?" Tony asked, though he looked worried like he already knew the answer.

"He's dead," his voice shook when he said that, the emotion that was usually there was gone.

That numb feeling was still there.

"I'm so sorry Pete."

"It's my fault I should've.."

"Peter.."

"I should've stayed with him!"

"Peter you know how lucky you are to be alive right now? He shot at you, twice. If that bullet had been a few inches over you'd be dead."
