Growing up II Sequel II Re-written

Chapter 1

I sit in the back against the wall in the gym looking down at my sketch book debating what I should draw as always. My attention was quickly taken by the blow of the whistle.

A quite groan escapes my lips sighing as my body pulls itself up, but I didn't really want to. Everyone gathers around the teacher as he checks off the attendance list looking around. I also look around seeing Tobias and Evan standing on the other side. I quickly look away looking down at my worn-out sneakers.

"Okay, today we will be having free gym" the teacher says as he walks away placing the clipboard on the desk with a speaker placed beside it. Everyone scatters into small groups, but as usually I stuck out like a sore thumb because I choose to ignore everyone.

"Quinn?" a raspy voice speaks up behind my head causing me to whip around seeing Kai, Zach, and Paige's kid.

A smile creeps across my lips as we hug. "Wow its been a long time" I reply as he picks me up a little spinning us around placing me back on the ground pulling away a little as he looks down at me.

He has changed a lot. His braces are gone, his hair isn't as long as it used to be. He definitely grew taller. Maybe five foot 11.

"Yeah, I was at boarding school, but mom and dad finally let me transfer here" he smiles brightly, the smile that never changed.

"Well, im glad your back" I say and look up at him scanning over his face seeing the dimples that were not there before, and the freckles he always had.

"You free for lunch? To catch up?" he asks nervously running a couple fingers through his hair smiling down at me.

"Yes, I am" I reply smiling, but it quickly fades as my head buzzes.

"Quinn are you okay?" a voice asks as I shake my head a little closing my eyes opening them to see Evan and Tobias laughing and Kai looking at me worried with a hand around my side to keep me up straight.

"Y-yeah, Im fine. J-just a little fuzzy" I mumble as a pair of arms guide me walking over to the bleachers helping me sit and he grabs my bad. Knowing which one it is, probably from the sloth charm on the key chain.

He sits down next to me pulling my water bottle out of the side pocket opening it for me. He hands it to me. I take it as my hands shake a little taking a sip wiping away the water that dripped down my chin.

"Sorry Quinn" Evan says as he jogs over. "I forgot how powerful my kick was" he chuckles nervously as Tobias joins him.

"You, okay?" Tobias asks looking at me with a concerned look.

"Yeah, Im fine" I mumble looking away from them and back at Kai.

He takes my bottle putting the cap back on and gets up swinging my bag over his shoulder. "Ill walk you to your next class, or the nurse if you feel to dizzy" he says holding out his hand as he picks up his own bag with his other hand holding it by the hook.

A big smile is plastered across my face forgetting about the other two being there standing up slowly, so I don't make the dizzy feeling worse. "Maybe we should head to the nurse" I mumble softly as he holds my hand in a firm group waving by to the boys with two fingers and walks with me out of the gym as the bell goes for next period.

Two hours went by, and the lunch bell goes off. I get up from my desk heading towards the cafeteria to meet Kai. A song plays in my head as I smile looking. I wait leaning against the wall outside of the cafeteria looking both ways until I see him with Evan, Tobias, and Minnie. I let out a sigh looking down at the floor, but I look back up as a hand grabs mine seeing Kai.

"Lunch is on me" Kai says with a smile pulling me towards the lunch line with a big grin on his face.

I couldn't help but smile at him and pick out a ham sandwich and watch as he gets a slice of pizza. He pulls out his wallet paying. I didn't have the energy to argue, so I let him. He smiles as we walk towards the table where the other three were already sitting.

I sit next to Kai setting my food down and my bag beside my feet looking down hearing Minnie and Tobias flirt, which made me cringe. We used to be best friends, but she started becoming distant this summer. I try to call and text her, but she leaves me on read she as well ignores my calls.

"So, when did you two start dating?" Kai asks as he takes a bite of his pizza grinning softly

"Oh, uh a couple days ago I think" Tobias says smiling up at Kai then at Minnie.

I look up at them frowning shrugging it off. They probably didn't want a lot of people to know about it. I put on a fake smile and look back down not touching my food. I jump a bit as I feel an arm around my back looking to see Kai glancing back and forth between me and the sandwich.

"I'm not really hungry" my voice cracks. I had a big breakfast I fake smile even more.

His lips curve into a frown and looks at me with sad eyes as he leans his head over to my ear as I see Tobias watching. "Did you not know?" he asks whispering.

"No, I didn't" I whisper back getting up leaving heading towards the bathroom letting out a deep breath. But I feel the rush of being pulled back into someone. I turn my head looking up seeing Kai with a frown but much bigger.
