How rare and beautiful it truly is that we exist.

~ Sleeping At Last

(Unedited)

{Clary's POV}

It was strange being here, stood in front of the full-length mirror in the Lightwoods home and blinking at my attire. My long auburn hair had taken hours for Isabelle to style and weave all of the little white flowers through it.

Although my dress was simple it was elegant looking with a long, flowing lace trail and sleeves and a slightly revealing bodice that made me look much more endowed than I actually was.
I was both loving and absolutely killing the bohemian look.

I'd paired it with my silver jewellery, my charm bracelet from Isabelle which I hardly ever removed and a pair of diamond earrings that Jace had bought me as a gift specifically for today.

The light catches on my engagement ring and the smile I have been wearing all day that was also beginning to hurt my cheeks comes straight back. I hadn't thought I would ever actually get married. Spending the rest of my life with one person? It never made much sense to me. Hell, the idea that anyone would want to spend the rest of their life with me seemed insane.

I was annoying, I almost always drooled in my sleep and I was one of the biggest drama queens I knew apart from maybe Isabelle but one thing I have always been sure of is that I loved Jace Herondale. Even when there were times I couldn't admit it to myself, when it was far too painful, I knew. I fell in love with my soul mate at fifteen years old and here I was now, years later, hours away from becoming his wife.

"Clary?" Isabelle calls from the other side of the door and then let's herself in. She's wearing her bridesmaid dress, a short gold dress with delicate spaghetti straps and now that she's finished weaving the gold ribbon through her hair she looks absolutely stunning, not that she hadn't before. We stare at each other for a long time until she eventually begins to tear up.

"Izzy," I chuckle and reach for my best friend who lets me take her into my arms despite the height difference "what's wrong?" I ask her because she hardly ever got emotional.

"I guess it just properly dawned on me that you're going to be my sister." She hiccups and I hold her tighter. Bless this girl.

"Ugh man," she sniffs "I need to get it together or I'm going to ruin my make-up and your beautiful dress." She giggles to herself and pulls away, grabbing a tissue from the box on the side board in Jaces bedroom and dabbing at her face.

"Have you seen Jace?" I ask her because he was at Alec and Magnus' apartment with Max and Ethan. We had our own place here in New York, not far from their place but Isabelle had insisted on me being at the 'family home' and Alec had insisted that Jace come to his. It was bad luck for us to see each other anyway.
