After her brother Derek was pronounced brain dead, Amelia went missing for twelve days. She didn't show up to work, she wasn't at home and she wasn't in any of her favorite places to be found. She was gone and no one could find her.
"I'm worried about her and Mer." Maggie says softly.
"Me too." Arizona agreed.
At that moment, Amelia entered the room. She looked tired and agitated.
"Where have you been?" Maggie asks instantly.
"I just needed a few days to myself." Amelia said.
Maggie shakes her head. "You were gone for twelve days Amelia."
"No I wasn't." Amelia said.
"Yes you were." Maggie responds.
Amelia shook her head and moved to get changed into her scrubs.
Arizona frowns. "Amelia, are you high?"
"What? What are you talking about?" Amelia asked.
"Your pupils are dilated." Arizona responds.
"I'm fine." Amelia turned slightly so Arizona couldn't see her face. "I'm just tired."
Arizona frowns. "I don't believe you."
"It's the truth." Amelia snapped unintentionally.
The blonde's frown deepens. "You're lying."
"I'm not." Amelia shook her head.
"Yes, you are." Maggie says.
"I am not." Amelia said, hitting her hand off of the locker in frustration, not even feeling the pain that shot through her hand. "I am not lying. I am not high."
Arizona shakes her head and leaves the room, coming back a few minutes later with a banana bag. "Sit."
"Why should I?" Amelia said. "I have patients." She pulled on her lab coat.
"You are not working on patients like this." Arizona snaps. "Sit."
"Who are you? You can't say what I can and can't do. You don't know me!" Amelia said. She moved towards the door, only to get blocked by Teddy Altman. "Move." She demanded.
"No." Teddy said.
"I said move!" Amelia screams.
"No!" Teddy said firmly.
Amelia groaned in frustration. "I'm not high!" She screamed. "Let me out! I want out!"
Amelia's distraction gives Arizona enough time to set up the banana bag before putting the needle in her arm.
"Ouch!" Amelia snapped. She turned to Arizona and looked at her arm and then at the banana bag. "I'm not high." She pulled the needle out of her arm and dropped it on the floor.
"That crap wouldn't work on her anyway." Addison said from the doorway. "She's an addict."
Arizona frowns and looks toward Addison. "What?"
"She's an addict." Addison said. "Has been since she was sixteen."
"Shut your mouth!" Amelia snapped.
The blonde's frown deepens. "But she was drinking at the bar when we met."
"That was the start of her spiral." Addison said. "Her mother was diagnosed with cancer last week."
"Shut up!" Amelia yelled. "Shut your face!"
Addison rolls her eyes and looks toward Arizona. "She needs rehab."
