I wandered into a pub that was far from where I lived. Had to get away from all that was familiar after today's incident. I was also in much need of a drink to replace my headaches with forgetfulness. I'm certainly not much of a smart drinker, but I'm giving myself the benefit of the doubt today.

Because like I said, I need a drink.

I sat down at a stool that was placed right in front of the bar. Sitting here seems like the movie sort of thing to do. I came to this particular bar because it's been recommended to me countless times by old clients of mine.

I pulled out my phone from my back pocket when I felt it vibrate. It was a notification from a dating app that I could have sworn I deleted. This dating app was the root of my job from when I was eighteen up until a month ago. My job didn't involve sitting behind a desk. I was a Sugar Baby.

A Sugar baby is someone who receives something like money or gifts from someone they are in a relationship with. In my case, I would receive money from men that I would meet and did whatever they wanted depending on how much they gave me.

I know, weird.

The random notification leads me to check my notes. My notes have the names of the guys whom I was supposed to meet that month before I had quit the app. There was one guy I had at the top of my list because I was so eager to meet him. He had requested a date with me for $1,000 dollars which was more than what I would usually get. He was also twenty-one which is the youngest age that had ever requested me.

Too bad I couldn't meet him and get that money.

I put my phone away and began to stare at the bartender, waiting for him to notice me. I waited patiently until I felt a cold breeze enter the room. It was the door being opened by customers. The strong, cold wind reminded me that we were already at the end of November. They say November is the time to be with family, but to me that's just a big joke.

I turn my face to the left when I see a group of guys standing by a group of girls. They're all so good-looking that they made me want to snap my own neck. Instead I sat up, turned away, and finally had the guts to signal the bartender. Anything to distract me from looking at people who are ten times prettier than me.

The bartender finally stood in front of me. His hair was tied back and he had a white rag hanging on his shoulder like in those cliché movies.

"Sorry for the wait," the bartender apologized with an awkward smile plastered on his face. "I was attending a very old lady."

I returned the awkward smile and said, "It's no problem. So-"

"I need to see some ID before you ask for anything," he said.

"Oh! Obviously..."

He sounds like the cop that pulled over my Uber last week. I reached into my pocket and took out my ID. I hand it to him and he seemed to be surprised by something.
