When I open my eyes I am lying down in my bed. To my left there is glass covering the ground and my mirror is completely shattered. I am trying to figure out exactly what happened after I touched the glass when footsteps come hammering up the stairs and down the hall.

"What the hell just happened?!" Karen demands.

She notices the glass on the ground and me lying on the bed, then notices the mirror.

"Oh my goodness are you alright?" She rushes over to the bed to see if I am wounded anywhere.

My first thought is not to check if I am hurt but to scan the room in search of Jareth. The mirror is broken which means it either didn't work or he is here somewhere hiding. The closet is open so he isn't there. Is it possible he left through the window after I passed out?

"Sarah answer me! Are you alright? What happened?" Karen shakes my shoulder the get my attention.

"Uh, yeah I'm fine," I look down and see no blood, "The mirror just tipped over suddenly and I was trying to clean it up. I'm sorry, I don't know what happened to it."

"It's alright as long as you are okay. Come downstairs to the kitchen and we will wait until your father comes home to clean it up." She hurries me out of the room and closes the door.

Downstairs I head outside straight away. Karen thinks I just need to clear my head because I am in shock, but in reality I am trying to find Jareth. I know he must have come through otherwise he would have tried to contact me somehow. Plus someone moved me from the floor to the bed and I doubt I got up an forgot it.

"Okay, where are you?" I whisper to nothing.

"Looking for me?" His voice come from directly behind me.

I whirl around and come face (way to close) to face with him. Hesitantly I take a step back. He follows me closely keeping a close eye on my reactions.

"So it really did work." I whisper.

"Yes, it did." He whispers with a smile.

We stay there staring at each other, neither of us moving a muscle. His eyes remain focused in admiration on my face. Something inside of me feels odd. I take another step away to clear my head.

"What are you going to do now that you are here?" I ask, my voice surprisingly steady.

"I'm not sure. But it is refreshing to be away from those idiots." He snorts.

"Aren't they going to notice that their King has gone missing?"

"I have thought about that, of course. Time has been frozen there for them. They won't even notice I am gone." He smiles.

"How long can you keep it like that?"

He pauses for a moment. "It will hold as long as I need it to. I don't plan to stay here too long as long as things go as planned."

"And what is your plan?"

"So far I'm not sure, but I don't plan to stay here very long so you don't have to worry. Just go about your daily chores like I am not even here." He tries to reassure me with a smile but it has the opposite effect.

"Well, I guess you can't stay here very long anyway, because I am leaving soon and you are not staying here unsupervised."

"What do you mean?" He speeds in front of me as I try to walk away to stop me.

I stop having no where else to go. "I am going back to school in a week. Coming home for Halloween was a vacation but I don't live here anymore. In a couple of days Karen is going to drive me back to my dorm a couple of hours away."
