You wandered down the hall, the tablecloth from earlier still wrapped around you tightly. Man, I can't believe I wimped out talking to the guys... I guess it's for the best, as they should probably spend some time thinking about whatever Fifi told them before I see them again...
"I hope that she told them about the emotional side of things," You muttered, "Maybe Blueberry will know that I'm not really that angry with him...?"
Letting out a sigh, you continued down the hallway, before you noticed that you were near the painting- and vase-filled room that all of the skeletons had appeared in. Huh... it's been a few days since any skeletons arrived, so...
You took a hold of the doorknob, before pushing it open...
There was nobody there.
Shutting the door, you let out another sigh. Well, I'm not sure if that's good or-
A loud thump could be heard on the other side of the door, leading to you immediately flinging the door open.
There was a bright light in the middle of the room, looking like some kind of vortex, before it quickly disappeared, and left the room covered in the normal darkness a windowless room possesses; your hand shot to the wall in search of the light switch, before the bright lights on the ceiling flickered to life, making every glass item in the room sparkle.
You scanned the room from the doorway, seeing no one anywhere.
"That's weird," You muttered, placing a hand to your chin, "I'm pretty sure a random vortex wouldn't just spawn in this room without leaving anything behind..."
Entering the room, you pushed the door back into its frame, yet it wasn't completely closed. It's my only escape route out of this room, and considering what the last guests that arrived were like... yeah...
As you looked for anything that seemed out of place, you noted that nothing appeared broken.
"Huh..." You shrugged your shoulders, making sure that your tablecloth didn't fall off. "I guess that-"
A small sound, which resembled shuffling, cut you off, and you twisted around to view a long table that held a bunch of expensive vases; it had a long tablecloth on it, which went all the way down to the floor. Bingo...
You started making your way to the table, pausing when you were an arm's length away.
Taking in a deep breath, you reached your arm towards the tablecloth.
"Um, hello? Is anyone over here?" You took a hold of the tablecloth, and started lifting it up slowly. "I don't, uh, wanna hurt you, and..."
The sight of a small figure, whose back was turned from you, greeted you, though you took notice of the blue hoodie that was way too large for it. Is... is he from some sort of universe where everyone is really short?
Since your action of lifting up the tablecloth caused light to enter the area beneath the table, the figure swiftly turned his head to face you, a small frown on his face; his frown happened to be missing a tooth, reminding you of the good ol' days of elementary school, where it wasn't common for someone to show up missing a few teeth. Oh my word...
"...uh, hi, little guy?" You said, placing a small smile on your face.
"...hey?" The voice coming out of the little Sans was reminiscent of a young child's voice, mostly one that was in the younger years of elementary school. I can't believe it...
"So... whatcha doin' under here?" You asked, gesturing to the area beneath the table. As your eyes came back to the Sans, you saw that he looked to be holding something, though since his body was turned away from you, it was hard to tell. "And... uh, what's that you're holding?"
The Sans's eyes went between the thing he was holding and you a few times, before he hugged the object closer to his body. "...nothing."
Keeping a small smile on your face, you raised an eyebrow. "Does that mean you're doing nothing under here, or you're holding nothing?"
"...both."
The object the Sans was holding seemed to move, causing the Sans to hush it and turn his body to keep it out of your sight. It's... moving? What would he be holding that would be moving? ...wait, no, it can't be...
"Uh... are you having some trouble with the "nothing" that you're holding?"
The Sans didn't even turn to look at you. "Nope."
Even as young as he was, this Sans didn't seem to be lacking the chill vibe that the other Sans, and San-like Papyruses, had, and you had to admit, hearing a kid acting like that was adorable. Not to mention how pudgy this kid looks... though how is he even "pudgy"? Skeletons don't have fat... ohhhh... he's big-boned!
"H-hey... come on, bro..."
Refocusing on the small skeleton in front of you, you saw a small head pop over the Sans's shoulder. ...ahhhh!!!
"Well, well, well..." You said, the Sans turning around to face you, and since it was evident that you had seen the small skeleton he was holding, he didn't try to hide the small, orange onesie-wearing Papyrus in his arms, though he did hold him protectively next to his body, "Who do we have here?"
"This... this is my bro, Paps," The Sans answered, shifting the small skeleton in his arms.
Said-skeleton was just staring at you, and you had to fight the urge to squeal at the absolutely adorable baby in front of you. Just look at him! I knew Papyrus was adorable already, mostly because he's so happy-go-lucky all the time, but a baby Papyrus?! Is this amount of cuteness even legal?!
"Uh... hi there?" You said, giving a small wave to the baby Papyrus.
A few seconds passed before he copied your action, a small smile appearing on his face as he laughed.
"Awww!" You exclaimed, before your attention returned to the Sans, who took note of your innocent interaction with his brother. Huh, for a kid that's elementary school-aged, he seems way more protective of a baby than I would normally think... but this is a Sans we're talking about, so...
A sudden thought hit you; there was a pair of very young kids in your care now.
You didn't know how to take care of kids!
But... there was someone you could go to.
Clearing your throat, which gained the Sans's attention, you put a smile on your face. "Hey, kid, let's get you two out of this room, alright? I'm sure you're very confused and all, but I'll explain everything if you just come with me."
The Sans narrowed his eyes at you, backing away from you a bit, before his brother tugged at the collar of his hoodie, still giggling from your earlier interaction. It took only a few seconds before the Sans scooted out from under the table, his grip on his brother still tight as he stood next to you.
As you let go of the tablecloth, you stood up, and took note that the Sans was about half the height of a full-grown Sans, while the baby Papyrus was about a third the size of the small Sans. He's so tiny!!!
Heading towards the door, you gestured for the Sans to follow you. "Come on, kid."
The Sans made his way next to you, and the both of you headed out of the room.
