When The Lights Go Out

                Zach wasn’t just another teenage boy. He was a teenage boy who had a youtube channel with 300 000 subscribers. But that wasn’t the only unusual thing about him. He had short brown hair, dull brown eyes, braces, and glasses; but his laugh was contagious and his smile could light up a room. He was a big computer nerd, always talking about the new mic he got or how he wanted to upgrade his Mac.  His outfits were simple, every day he wore black sweatpants, a t-shirt, and a hoodie, but the outfit suit him.

Every day the 17 year old would go down to ‘the joint’, as he liked to call it. At the joint he would order a small cheese pizza, his favourite food, and occasionally some French toast. The workers at the joint knew him very well, (due to the fact he came there so often) and were always joyed by his company.

A worker he knew particularly well was Melissa. She would always add in some extra cheese on his pizza or sneak him some more maple syrup for his French toast. Melissa and Zach had been friends for years. They had been in the same class since middle school. They knew all of each other’s secrets, well, for the most part.

Melissa had long brown hair with purple and green streaks in which she always had up in a bun due to her cooking job. Her eyes were as blue as the ocean and her nails were always painted a dark, midnight blue.  She had a single nose ring on the right side and large nerdy glasses that just more emphasised her blue eyes. Melissa had a small tattoo on the inside of her wrist. It was the word Shasta in cursive with a small heart on the end. Shasta was her cat whom she loved more than anything.

Melissa lived in a large house with her rich parents. ‘But Melissa sounds like a rebellious bad girl?’ you must be thinking. Well Melissa isn’t a bad girl. She’s a straight A student who has never done a crime in her life, unless you count loving a cat too much. And just because her parents are rich, they love her for her. Her parents accept her style, her personality, as well as her sexual orientation.

Melissa never ‘came out’ to her parents. Her little sister doesn’t have to go up and say she’s straight, so why should she have to do so? She just came home with her girlfriend, Ashley, and no one made a big deal about it.   

Anyways, back to Zach. Zach had never been in a relationship. He had always been too busy working on his youtube career and maintaining straight A's that he's never really had the opportunity. But through out his youtube experience, he has met this one person, whom he just might like.

WOW! Hey Guys! This is my new story 'When The Lights Go Out' It is inspired by one of my favourite TV shows, Revolution, which sadly got cancelled. Melissa is just an OC I made up and in the next 2 or 3 chapters I will be going to do a more in depth explanation about the other characters such as Ashley and Melissa’s sister. I really hope you guys enjoyed this first chapter and it’s a story im really excited about writing so hopefully I will update often!
