Scout was surprised that Sniper had called him "love", but he liked it. He chuckled and pulled away from the hug.
"What's wrong? Do you not like me calling you that? I can stop if you want." Sniper said.
"No, I like it." Scout laughed. Sniper laughed too.
They both were silent for a little bit. They just stared at each other with a smile on their faces. They studied each other. But as every second passed, their faces inched closer and closer together. Their eyes closed, and their lips soon met.
Their kiss was slow and passionate for a while, but it got faster and faster. It made them want the other even more. Soon Scout was on top of Sniper, kissing him.
Just then, the door opened, and Soldier and Demoman walked in. Scout quickly got off of Sniper.
Sniper cleared his throat and said, "I was just about to. . . um. . . go. . . clean my weapons."
Soldier and Demoman must've seen what they were doing because they were standing at the door with their eyes and mouths open wide like they'd just seen a ghost.
Scout's face was really red, and so was Sniper's, but he was facing the wall to "clean his knives".
Soon Soldier and Demoman left the room, but their eyes and mouths were still open wide.
The next morning, the mercs went to a nearby cafe and ate breakfast there. Soldier and Demoman hadn't spoken about what happened to the other mercs.
Sniper and Scout were a blushing mess around each other. The team noticed, but they just shrugged it off.
The mercs all sat at one big table to eat. After they ate, though, they spit up to look around the city. Scout went with Sniper. They walked around for a bit, then stopped at a fountain.
"I hope Soldier and Demoman don't tell the rest of the mercs," Scout said. Sniper nodded, then they decided to explore the countrysides. They rented horses, and rode along the country roads, admiring the many grape fields and mountains along the way.
Soon it was sunset. Scout and Sniper were doing their own thing, and the rest of the team was back at the inn. Sniper and Scout got hungry, so they stopped at a fancy restaurant to eat.
"What're you getting, love?" Sniper asked Scout.
"I think I'm getting spaghetti. Plain, I know, but I want to know what it tastes like during these times." Scout said, putting down his menu. The waitress soon showed up and took their orders.
"Today was fun. Thanks, Snipes, for everything." Scout smiled warmly.
"I agree, and anything for you, love." Sniper smiled.
Once their food and drinks arrived, they began eating. It looked amazing, but tasted even better!
When they got back at the inn, Soldier and Demoman weren't there. "They must be at the pub," Sniper stated. It was already pitch black outside.
"I wish we didn't have to share a room with Soldier and Demoman," Scout said. Sniper nodded, then there was silence.
"Hey, Snipes?" Scout got dizzy. He staggered to the bed for support but gave up halfway.
"What's wrong, love?" Sniper asked, walking over to Scout.
"I'm not feeling too good," Scout said, then collapsed. Sniper caught Scout before he could hit the ground. Scout had one arm around Sniper for support, and the other around his neck. He was gasping for air. He can't breathe, I need to bring him to Medic! Sniper thought. He helped Scout downstairs to the pub, expecting the mercs to be there, but they weren't.
No, no, no! Where is bloody Medic?! Sniper thought. I think I remember him saying something about a restaurant he was gonna go to later, which is now. I think it was something called Trattoria Sabatino.
Sniper and Scout went out of the inn, and Sniper looked around. He didn't know where the restaurant was, and he didn't want to waste time running around town. Scout's life was on the line.
He walked up to a civilian. "Do you know where the restaurant Trattoria Sabatino is?" Sniper asked.
"Sorry, but I don't," the civilian said, "I'm not from here."
Sniper asked another civilian, and she said that it was on the other side of town. She gave him directions.
Sniper sighed. How are we going to get there in time? He thought. He scanned his surroundings and noticed some horses.
He helped Scout over to the horses, and onto one of them. He then got up himself. "Hold on tight," Sniper said. Scout nodded, not being able to talk. He was still gasping for air.
"Hyah!" Sniper kicked the horse, which started to gallop. They head a man behind them yelling at them for taking his horses. Sniper ignored him.
Scout was surprised by the sudden speed, but he held on and kept his balance. They rode for a few minutes before making it to the restaurant. Sniper dismounted the horse, then helped Scout off. He helped Scout walk up to the restaurant. Sniper looked over at Scout before opening the doors. What he saw made him gasp. It was back. The black streaks were back. It covered the left side of Scout's face but did not get to his eyes.
I really need to get him to Medic! Sniper opened the door and shouted for Medic. Everyone in the restaurant stared at Sniper and Scout. He didn't care about that right now. He scanned the room quickly, looking for Medic, and saw him walking up to them. "What happened?" He asked. Sniper handed Scout to Medic.
"I don't know, he just collapsed and couldn't breathe," Sniper said. Medic laid Scout on the ground and took off his shirt. The streaks were all over. Why is this happening to him? I thought he was all healed! Sniper thought worriedly.
Medic was examining Scout when he realized something. "Turn him on his side, and quickly!" Medic said. Sniper did what he said, no questions asked. The rest of the team began to gather around, as well as many other civilians in the restaurant.
Scout began coughing as if something had been stuck in his throat. There was. He coughed up a black chunk, along with some blood.
"That's what I was afraid of," Medic sighed, "if we hadn't turned him on his side any sooner, he would've died." Scout sat up, breathing heavily and sweating profusely.
A man from the crowd pushed through and handed Medic a folded piece of paper. They couldn't see his face, however, he had a mask that looked like a bird's head, and a dark cloak on. He soon then disappeared into the crowd. Medic opened the folded paper and had a surprised look on his face after he read it.
I wonder what the note says. . . Sniper thought. What could make Medic so surprised? After he got out of his thoughts, he rushed to Scout's side. "You okay, love?" He asked. Scout nodded. His throat was sore, so he didn't want to talk.
"We need to go somewhere tomorrow. This might be the only way to heal Scout." Medic stated.
Why was Medic acting this way? Was it all because of that piece of paper?
