An hour passed when there was a similar boom, accompanied by shouting voices. He returned outside to see the girl who claimed to be Sydni and Jean Starslayer back at it again.

They were antagonizing the crowd, almost like they wanted them to revolt. It took a while, but his peers eventually took the bait, Petri especially.

Brand sighed, walking back in the mines, wanting absolutely no part in whatever punishment was to come. Although, the more he thought about it he figured all of them would likely be disciplined, regardless of who actually participated.

Sure enough, Elvina Infraburst noticed. It was weird that it was her, and not just an army of guards. He could already see her lethal blue flames engulfing Sydni, Jean somehow spared. It was a spectacle he couldn't help but watch.

The blue flames circled around the miners, lighting many of them up. They were screaming bloody murder as more of them lit up, the flames quickly reaching a now running Brand. It was like lightning suddenly struck, carrying absolutely no warning.

Brand screamed in agony, but the fire surrounding him turned a bright orange. The blue fire was dissipating before his very eyes, and all of the pain was gone.

Elvina returned fire to the source of the anomaly, knocking Brand off his feet. Out of primal instinct, Brand erupted into a fiery monstrosity, and charged toward his oppressor. He knew every bone in his body should be telling him to run the opposite way, but on he went.

The two Starslayers escaped under the mask of rage and chaos. Brand screamed out, sending tempests of fire to Elvina. Her mood seemed to change. When she arrived she was royally pissed off, but now she was acting absolutely ecstatic.

This only made Brand angrier as he hurled fireballs at her, his power slowly dying down.

"Used up quite a bit of energy there, didn't you?" Elvina laughed at his dilemma, not bothering to counter anymore as Brand's flames died down.

"Don't worry, I'm not going to kill you," she landed on the now wartorn platform. "I quite like that power you have," she chuckled. "So unusual for a man to have magic."

"I," Brand stuttered, falling over as Elvina approached.

Her hand extended, offering to lift him up. "I'm quite impressed. How long have you been hiding your little magic?" she teased.

Brand backed up. "I didn't know," was all he could muster out.

"Nevertheless, I think you should come with me," Elvina beamed. Brand's body was engulfed in her blue fire, but it no longer burned.

"Where are you taking me?" Brand stared at her tattooed face and curly blue hair. Her face was pale, but an elegant color unlike his sickly white skin.

"Why, Infraburst Manor you goof," she perked, pulling him across the dusk like a caged animal.
