Chapter four ¨A Night to Forget¨

Start from the beginning

"Well, word got out that you were working at this old place, so I thought I'd drop by and say hi to my dear old friend." Trevor explained.

Ryan rolled his eyes. "We both know that's not true." He said. Trevor gave a small chuckle. "Come on Ryan lighten up! High school is over. We're adults now!"

"Then why aren't you at college then?" Ryan huffed. "Couldn't find one that suited me." Trevor shrugged. "Why aren't YOU at college?"

Ryan awkwardly blew his hair as he looked around. "It's....complicating...you know with my mom and all." He mumbled. Trevor tried to change the subject.

"Well how's that new girlfriend, Valerie of yours doing? How long has it been...five months?" Asked Trevor. "Six." Ryan corrected him. "Why are you here Trevor? I know you want something!"

Trevor placed his elbows onto the counter. He looked up at Ryan. "You know...I have a girlfriend now too." He said. "Oh yeah, who?" Ryan asked uninterested.

Trevor rose an eyebrow. "You sure you wanna know?" He asked. "I mean come on, we're talking about someone who used to be in a very commited relationship!"

"I don't really care." Ryan said swiping through his cell phone. "Kaley Edwards." Trevor replied. Ryan looked at him. "What!? How!? That's impossible..I thought she moved to New York..."

"She decided not too." Trevor shrugged. "I mean come on the girl was crushed. First she spends days in a horrific, dark universe, and then her boyfriend for nearly a year breaks up with her for somebody else right after!" Trevor explained.

"So yeah basically now she still lives at home with her parents in trauma, and managed to get into online college. I guess she finally realized that she wanted me, and tracked me down. We started going out two days ago."

Ryan's eyes widened. "So the only reason why you came here in the first place was so you could tell me that you are going out with my ex girlfriend!?" He demanded.

Trevor ignored him. "Speaking of Kaley, I've noticed something ...different about her. I've realized when we stand next to each other in the sun or something, I have a shadow and she doesn't.

Ryan looked glumly at his hands. "I don't know what you're talking about." Trevor squinted. "I know it was from something that happened at that place Ryan. I know that you and that...weird shadow demon thing had something to do with it."

Trevor headed for the door, and opened it. "I will find answers!!!!!" He hollered before shutting it.

Misty slowly wandered through the courtyard to where the friend group usually sat at lunch. She found Ethan, Garret, and Jenna sitting on their bench by the flower bed, stuffing food in their faces. Misty knew that Garret and Misty were trying to finish eating so that they could go and play kickball with all their sporty friends. Jenna was still in her P.E. clothes.

Misty plopped down next to Jenna. She looked at all the other laughing friend groups that were huddled around outside.

"Garret I told you to stop pulling my hair!" Misty heard Jenna scold at Garret. She smacked him on the head. "I didn't do anything!" Garret said truthfully.

Misty and Garret noticed another boy come up behind Jenna, and yanked her ponytail. Jenna gave a small squeal, and turned around. "Colton!" She lit up.

Colton was a basketball player in their grade. He and Jenna were both planning on trying out for the basketball team that winter, and they conditioned together. Colton was tall and tan with deep brown eyes, reddish brown gelled hair, a face of freckles, and an unusual jaw line.
