I wake up with an I.V. sticking out of the crook in my elbow. All I can see is a white blur. I rub my eyes in an attempt to clear my vision. If anything, I made it worse. A yellow dinosaur rushes into the room.

"H-Hello! I'm Doctor Alphys. How are you feeling?" Alphys asks worriedly. I stretch.

"Surprisingly decent, seeing as I was blasted by multiple lasers." The only pain I feel is a slight ache where the I.V. has entered my bloodstream. Alphys sighed in relief.

"T-That's the optimal outcome. See, your soul colour is faith. T-That basically means that y-you can survive some near death experiences if you have faith in y-yourself." She hurriedly explains. "When w-whoever it was attacked you, you had f-faith in yourself. Y-You remained hopeful. It's kind of like determination; I-If you will y-yourself to, y-you can o-only really die of old a-age. Cool, r-right?" She rambles. Huh. I vaguely remember Sans saying that faith was a lesser version of determination. My body tenses up at the thought of the skeleton.

"Yeah, interesting." I sit up. "So.. Where am I?"

"O-Oh! You're in Hotlands. A-After I run a f-few tests on y-you, you'll be free to l-leave." Alphys takes out a notepad and pen. She runs a few tests on me, drawing blood into a portable tester.

"Am I good?" I ask, hopefully.

"Y-Yes, it seems so. O-One last thing; W-Who was it t-that attacked y-you?" She asks, looking at me with sympathy. "F-Feel free not to a-answer if it makes y-you uncomfortable." I smile, shaking my head.

"Nah, it's good. Sans attacked me." Someone who I had grown close to. Alphys looks at me pitifully. It bothers me, but it's probably not a good idea to criticize the person- or dinosaur- who saved your life.

"I-I'm sorry. G-Grillby told me t-that you two were friends.. M-May I ask w-why?" She questions, her tone soft.

"He thought I.. Tried to kill his brother or something." I mumble, not comfortable talking about it.

"D-Did you?" She asks.

"No!" I snap. "Undyne told me to help him with battle training. Shyren took it too far, and I wasted almost all of my energy defending him. Shyren beat him up pretty badly, too. So he was on the ground in pain. Then Sans appeared, made stupid assumptions, and frigging blasted me!" I rant, my volume rising.

"O-Ok.. That really doesn't s-sound like Sans. I-I'll have a t-talk with him. T-Try not to o-overexert yourself. F-Feel better. You can g-go home whenever y-you want." Alphys removes the I.V. from my arm. It feels weird. She walks away, muttering something about a.. 'Stupid skeleton' and an 'irresponsible Undyne'.

As I'm about to teleport to my cottage, a blue glow enters my vision.

"(Y/N)! I'm super sorry- It's just tha-" Sans starts. I cut him off.

"Don't care. I thought we were friends. Clearly, I was wrong. Sorry for wasting your life, just as you should be sorry for wasting mine." I say, still a bit salty from the whole trying-to-kill-me incident.

"I-I was wrong. It was Shyren.. But you already knew that, I guess.." He mutters.

"Wow, thanks for wasting your energy to come and tell me that I didn't try to murder one of my friends." I drawl, trying to sound careless. A pang of sympathy courses through my body. I ignore it.

"R-Right. I get it if you're mad at me. You need your space. I'm souper sorry." He gestures at a can of soup on my bedside table. I roll my eyes.

"Maybe I would've found that somewhat amusing if we were still friends. Leave me alone. I don't want to see you." I exit the hospital-like room. A flash of blue shows in my perpheral vision, and I know that he's teleported away. I'm about to do the same when a small voice echoes from a room next to me.
