Every muscle in my body tensed as I was was pushed into the cold, dark room. The people in the room paused for a moment and turned to Vlad. A smile tugged to his lips.
"Hallo!!" He gave a wave and let his hand slip down to my wrist as he dragged me along. The conversations resumed and subjects like
me looked around terrified. I felt eyes following my small frame as Vlad chatted with friends. All the sudden my hospital gown seemed much too short. I tugged at it nervously and glanced at the scientists in pristine white coats. It almost resembled a very dark and awkward office party. As if that wasn't bad enough, some people looked at me hungrily. Vlad pulled me in front of him and smiled, squeezing my wrist.
"Don't fret liebling. Remember zat you're mine." He spoke softly and and leaned in close, but quickly returned to his conversation. I couldn't tell if he was trying to comfort me or squash any sort of hope that fluttered. I chewed on my lip and looked at the ground. I was outnumbered, and doing anything would make Vlad livid. But I couldn't let myself just sit here! I pulled away roughly and glared at him. I wasn't about to let this bitch parade me around like some show dog. He chuckled and moved his hand up my arm to my shoulder, making me shiver. I glanced around the room and again when I saw a familiar face"Felix!" I smiled a tiny bit. His face seemed like a warm candle in deep darkness. I cleared my throat and mustered up all the courage I had. "V-Vlad?"
"Hm?"
"I uh...see a friend. Can I go say hi?" I pulled away a bit and glanced at him. I just wanted to get away from this creepo for a few minutes. His grip fell away and he gave me a gentle pat on the
"Alvight. I'll come get zou when I'm done." He smiled and gave a little nod. "Don't leave without me." I nodded quickly and scurried off. Having personal space was a relief, but I still felt like a peice of meat in a lion's den. I made my way through the crowded room to Felix. He stood at attention next to his patron, this didn't look like his first tome doing this. I crept up to him and tapped his shoulder.
"Felix. Are you o-" before I could say finish my sentence he turned to me and beamed.
"Krista! How have you been?" He brushed
some hair behind his ear and smiled. "I heard you tried to get out the other day" his smile faded a bit. I gulped and nodded, I didn't know news traveled that fast around here.
"Well...yeah. It didn't end well."
"I can imagine" he sighed sadly and looked at the ground. "You know thats dangerous...." I rolled my eyes and crossed my arms.
"Well I know now." Felix studied me for a moment, making sure I was ok. I felt my cheeks warm up a bit.
"You're...not like the other ones...."
"Why does everyone keep saying that?!" I frowned and rolled my eyes again. "Who the f*** I'd the other ones?!" This was starting to get creepy. I got the message that I was different, but why was it such and issue? Felix furrowed his brow.
"He hasn't told you yet?"
"Sounds like he doesn't tell me a lot of stuff."
"I-it's not my place to tell you..." he looked at the ground and glanced at his patron. I opened my mouth to say something, but I felt a strong hand grab my wrist.I yelped and turned, expecting to see Vlad, but I was met with someone I don't know. A stranger was holding me tight. I tried to pull away and looked at Felix for help. He just stood there nervously, unsure what to do. The stranger started blabbing about how I was perfect and started moving his hands around. I struggled and cursed at the man, but nobody intervened, or even payed attention. I felt a hand on my back and tensed up as I fell into the person behind me. Panic set in and t trashed around more. The person behind me put a hand on my shoulder.
"Calm down liebling" he smiled slowly and pulled me closer. "Zoure mine remember?"A.N.
