Jonah's P.O.V.
It was when we were leaving Bailey's house that she asked me. "We're going to the movies tomorrow. Do you wanna come?" She asked. "Sure. Text me what's happening."
We left then. I sat into the back of the car and smiled up at Scott and Mitch. "So...." I said in anticipation. "They're nice. Very formal." Mitch said. "Yeah a bit OTT." Scott commented. "I felt like I was constantly being degraded." Mitch continued. "Yeah, they are kind of like that. They are nice and all but a bit overbearing. Her brother, Jamie is annoying as hell. Michael is awesome though. He's so nice. So is Alex." I stated. They smiled at me before Scott turned on the engine. "What?" I asked. "You just seemed to of settled in pretty well." Mitch said turning back to face forwards. "Well they are nice people. Bailey is my best friend." I said. "Kind of reminds me of when we first met. Doesn't it Mitch?" Scott said placing his hand on top of Mitch's. I made a gagging noise. "Wow!" Scott said sarcastically. "Joking." I laughed.
"Can I go to the movies with them tomorrow?" I asked. "If you want."
Scott's P.O.V.
I guess it was ok. But it's been going on for ages now. They were spending so much time together. Studying. Going to the movies. Hanging out. I know I'm sounding over protective but I don't want him spending so much time with her. She is a great kid but we barely see Jonah.
He gets home from school when it's dark. He leaves for school at half eight. He spends the weekends either in his room with Bailey or in her room at their house. I don't mind them being together but it feels like he is never around .
I don't know maybe I'm just being stupid.
I sighed sitting down next to Mitch on the couch. The TV was turned down low because the kids were asleep. I slid to laying position, lying my head in Mitch's lap. "What's wrong?" He asked. "How-" "Scott, are you really going to ask that question?" He said. I smiled up at him. He tilted his head down so he could kiss me.
After he had pulled away I started to talk. "I don't know if I'm bad person for saying this but I don't think Jonah should be spending so much time with that Bailey girl. He likes her, I know. But I just feel so protective over him. We barely see him in day light. I just... I don't know. I don't mind it but something feels wrong." I looked up at him as his face softened. "Babe, don't worry ok? If you don't want him to go somewhere we can just tell him he can't go. Simple as." I sat up and shifted so I could hold his body next to mine. "But I don't want to sound mean." I whined. Mitch kissed my cheek and laughed. "You're his dad not his best friend." He commented. I nodded and snuggled into his side.
"I love you." I whispered. "I love you too." He whispered back.
Mitch's P.O.V.
The next day we got up early to take Libby to dance. When I say we I mean me. Scott was too stubborn to get up this morning.
"Can we get ice cream when you pick me up?" Libby asked before she got out of the car. I nodded. "If daddy wakes up in time to take Jonah to the movies." I smiled. "He's going out again?" She frowned. "Yes. What's wrong with that?" I asked. "I wanted to go to the park with him. Like we used to. I miss it. I'll see you later." She said closing the door and leaving me with my mouth hanging open.
She was right. They hadn't been spending as much time together as they used to.
When I got home Scott was still in his bed. I walked into the kitchen and noticed the cereal had been moved. I walked up to Jonah's room and knocked on the door before opening. He was sat up in bed, one hand holding a spoon filled with cereal the other glued to his phone.
"Jonah!" I sang. He starred blankly at the screen. I walked into the room. "Jonah!" I said again. Nothing. "Jonah!" I snatched the phone out of his hand. "Hey dude not cool!" He shouted looking up at me. "Well then don't ignore me, dude!" I said back. He frowned. "Go take a shower!" I ordered.
I turned to walk out. "Sure fag." I heard him whisper under his breath. I turned as quick as lightening. "What did you say to me?!" I shouted backing him up so he fell to a sitting position on his bed. "Nothing. Sorry." He said. His innocence flashed through his eyes. "Don't let me ever hear you say that word again!" I warned. "Sorry." He whispered as quiet as a mouse. "Go on!" I said letting him leave before me.
Scott must of heard us because when I got down to the kitchen he was sat at the counter. "You alright?" He asked. I walked into his arms and let out a sigh. His arms wrapped the whole way around my body. "We'll talk later." He said letting me go. I turned and realized Jonah was standing in the doorway. We must have been hugging for ages because he was dressed and ready to go.
"I'll take him." Scott said. "Ok. I'll see you later. I'm taking Libby out for ice cream so I'll see you when we get back from there. Have a good time Jonah." I stated. He looked up from his phone and smiled. Some emotion that I couldn't read flashed over his face and he stepped forward and hugged me. "Bye dad." He said.
