The World We Belong To

Susie's POV

I was in English class and everyone is with their partners working on their essay. Steve was with Emma, she is kinda popular at school and of course really pretty and she thinks extremely high of herself like she is the queen of school  and of course I was bullied by her and her friends multiple times, she saw me looking at her. She raised her eyebrows at me, I looked away quickly and started checking my books.

Newt wasn't here at, why is he late ?. Well I started to pick some points in the books which seemed more like facts than rubbish about beasts, when he comes, he will take a look at it and see if we can add more. But where is he ? Gosh, I looked at the doorway, everyone is coming but not him.

Mr. Black also came but Newt didn't. He told us a new chapter. I often looked at the door way to see if Newt might show up and finally he did. I took a deep breath like I was not breathing before, he looked at my way and then at Mr. Black. His hair is a mess and his eyes are swollen a bit like he didn't sleep for days. He wore plain black tshirt but he still looked handsome. What was I thinking. My thoughts broke when he talked.

"I'm sorry Mr. Black I'm late" he said and came in, then sat next to me as usual, but he didn't look at me. Mr. Black continued his chapter.

He seemed like he is angry about what I did last day. When the bell rang, he took out a book and handed it to me.

"What is it ?" I asked.

"Its the book, your mom's" he said. I was really excited when he told me that. I was really happy.

"I couldn't thank you enough Newt.." I said with a smile. He smiled and handed me the original book too.

"Well then, see you later " he said and stood up to go.

"Wait..ah..let me buy you coffee, my treat.. " I asked, I shouldn't just take the book and say thanks.

He just stared at me for a moment with blank expression. I couldn't tell if he wanna go with me or not.

"Please.." I asked.

"Okay" he finally said.

"Cool...then I'll see you after school" I said.

He just nodded and left. Then I went to my other classes, we were in chemistry doing some lab work, Jo is my lab partner.

"Hey let's pour this green liquid in this and see what happens" I grabbed the testing tubes from her.

"Jo stop, God.. you shouldn't do that, it might blow" 

"Come on..it would be fun" she said.

"You know what ..why don't you just watch me do it and relax" I said, she's making me anxious.

"Whatever..." she said and started flipping the books infront of her. After we were done with chemistry, we went straight to cafeteria, I hadn't eaten much this morning, now I feel very hungry.

I put a lot on my plate, 2 burgers and also 2 apples and well let's just say I doubled my daily lunch.

"Are you gonna eat that yourself or is someone joining you?" Steve asked, I looked back and saw him standing behind me.

"I'm pretty hungry today. When did you come?" I asked.

"Just now" he said while putting food on his plate and we all sat together.

"Well Susie, there's a party this weekend at toby's...have you heard?" She asked. There wouldn't be a weekend without a party when you are in high school.

"Yeah...I am not planning on going anywhere this weekend" I said.

"Come on Susie, it would be fun, Steve is also coming" she said looking at him.

"Yeah..I'm going to, come Susie, I promise I won't leave you like I did last time" he said with apologetic eyes.

"That's not the problem, I just don't feel like partying"

I don't wanna go, I am never a party girl at all, last time I only went cause I was hoping I could see newt there. There's no reason for me to go now.

"Fine...if you don't like it, so what are you planning on doing this weekend?" he asked.

"Nothing, I will just read or spend time with my dad...you know, things like that" I said and grabbed a bite of apple.

I looked around the cafeteria to see newt, I haven't seen him here from a couple of days, is he skipping his meals?

After long hours, school was finally finished,  I rushed out to meet Newt.

"What's the hurry Susie?, can you walk slow?, you might trip" Jo said who is trying to match my speed.

I didn't answer her.  when I was outside, he wasn't there yet. I stopped walking and looked around for him.

"What happened ? Come on, I'll drop you home" Jo said. I turned to her quickly and said.

"No..I have plans"

"Woah...with who?" She was really excited.

"I'm just treating a friend, he did a favor" I said, hoping she would drop it.

"Fine...then see you" she said and left. I waited by his car for some time. I hope Steve wouldn't see me, if he did, he would make a scene that I'm going with newt.

And finally I saw him coming. His hair is still a mess and wet, he might be playing sports. I smiled as soon as I saw him. He smiled back. That's the smile I always wanted to see, that smile where his eyes glitters and he almost seem like not human but something more special.

"Sorry, I was late taking the shower. Did you wait long?" He said when he reached me.

"Its okay. I just got here. " I said still dazzled by his smile and his hair is still watery, the drops of water were falling on his cheeks. Without realizing my hands went up to his face and wiped those droplets. He froze when I did that.

"Sorry..I was just trying to..." what the hell am I thinking. His eyes grew wider like something happened.

"Shall we... ah go now?" I asked. He then just nodded and opened the car door for me and then we drove to coffee shop with an awkward silence all the way.
