My mouth hung open in disbelief, gaping at them. No. No. This cannot be happening!
They’re lying! I pinched the bridge of my nose, and looked back up at them.
“We’ve gotten quite close over the couple days, and since Mr. Duke left on a business trip, the house has been quite for Mrs. Duke and Alec, so she said she’d be overjoyed to have you stay at their place.” Mom explained, reassuring rubbing my shoulder. No! First my Silverado, and now this?
I whined in complaint, suddenly feeling the urge to repeatedly bang my head against the wall. Me and Alec were not on good terms right now. Well, me only.
“Why can’t I come with you to Brazil?” I groaned, jutting out my bottom lip.
“Business only, sweetheart. We would take you without hesitation if we could,” Dad gave me a wary smile.
This is unbelievably O negative!
“Most definitely. But staying with the Dukes will be just fine, right? We leave on Saturday.” Mom finished.
Nope. Just no. This is not happening. I grimaced, and stomped all the way back to my room. I suddenly had the urge to glance at Alec’s window, but he wasn’t there. Where was he? Did he decided to go incognito? Does he even know about this?
This will be awkward.
Very awkward.

I made my way to school, feeling pleased with my outfit. I didn’t get any sleep last night, that’s why I am so proud of the making of this outfit. I’m never really a last minute person, so this boosted my feelings. I smoothed out the navy blue skirt, and profoundly admired the pretty detailing. It’s not every day I stop to admire my skirt.
I took my time fondly, in no hurry whatsoever. It’s Friday man!
I welcomed the doors, and happily showed myself in. I hummed to myself as I approached the lockers, profusely refusing to step on the cracks in between the tiles. Step on a crack, break your mother’s back.
Hm, maybe if I step on a crack, my mother’s back will break and they couldn’t go to Brazil...I won’t have to stay with the Dukes!
What are you saying, Tiana?! Be quite,, and stop wishing harm on your very own mother. I firmly thought, and shook my head. All this drama has really been getting to me.
I placed my hand on my lock.
10-15-17-16...
I swiftly pulled it open and shoved my books in.
April suddenly appeared at my side, watching my process of –‘shove, shove, twist, push.’
“Hey Tee,”
“Hey April.” I greeted, checking my reflection in the mirror. Hey, a girl’s got to do what a girl’s got to do.
“I can’t believe i procrastinated again! I can’t let my grades slip!” April whined, gripping my arm.
“It’s all right, you’ll do fine. You’re great at anything academic.” I reassured her, applying my lip balm to my lips.
Mmm, blueberry.
“You don’t understand! The book report is due on Monday!” she complained, shoving off my attempt to help.
Hold on... book report? The one we got...two days ago.
I forgot. Fiddlesticks!
“Oh gosh, April. I forgot too.” I pinched the bridge of my nose. I know, you’re probably thinkin, ‘why don’t you just do it over the weekend?’
