El and Peter walked together to Midtown Tech High School. They entered the building and walked to their lockers, which were right next to each other. They grabbed their things and put them into their backpacks for their classes.
"Hey guys!" Ned greeted, coming in behind them with MJ. "Peter, guess what? I got a new LEGO set yesterday and you're going to love it!"
"What is it?" Peter asked in excitement.
"The Slave I. Collectors addition!" Ned told him.
"NO WAY!" Peter shouted with a grin, leading to El and MJ snickering at them. "Come over with it today! I'm sure the team won't mind. They like you guys anyway."
MJ shook her head at them. "Yeah, you two nerds can play with LEGOs while El and I watch cultured movies," she said. "Or maybe even a soap opera if they're on. See, we have taste while you two losers don't."
"Rude," Peter said with a fake pout.
"I'm messing with you," MJ teased and gave him a kiss on the cheek.
The bell then rang for everyone to go to their classes. Since El was younger, she couldn't be in the same classes with Peter, Ned, and MJ except for lunch. It made her sad that she couldn't hang out with them most of the day because they knew her best in New York. It made her wish that her old friends were there, but they couldn't be. She sighed as she walked to her class, which was history class.
El took a seat in her usual spot and waited for class to begin. Students started to come in and take their seats as well. She noticed one girl in particular and refused to make eye contact with her. Unfortunately, she took notice of her and smirked.
"What are you looking at, freak?" The girl asked her in a rude tone.
El sighed and didn't look at her. "Hey Angela," she said in a soft voice. Angela laughed at her and turned back to her friends.
"Hey, Ella Bella Bear!" El heard a familiar voice say. She looked up and grinned when she saw a boy sit next to her.
"Hey Josh!" She greeted. Josh was her new friend that she made when she first arrived at the school. They were in a few classes together and they ended up getting along well due to having shared interests. The only thing he didn't know about her was that she had powers and lived with the Avengers.
That was the only thing that had to be kept a secret. El couldn't tell anyone she and Peter lived with the Avengers. They didn't want the public to be freaked out over them taking in two orphans, especially ones with powers. El wanted to tell Josh thought, but she didn't know how to tell him.
"So with this history project we have to do..." Josh started to say. "Can we do it at your house this time? My house is a mess and my mom doesn't want anyone over until we clean it up."
El sighed inwardly and nodded at him. "Sure," she said, a little worried at how the Avengers would take it to have a stranger walk into their compound. "I'll just have to check with my family about it. They don't like it when people come over without them knowing about it."
That wasn't a complete lie.
"Sweet!" Josh said with a grin. "Oh, and look at this meme I found!"
The two looked at memes until the teacher told the class to settle down.
...
Peter was in science class with MJ and Ned, doing a lab with them. He was also secretly working on some new webs in the drawer next to him. He was still surprised that the teacher and no one else noticed it, but he was happy that they didn't. Even though he had his own lab in the compound, he liked to work on the webs at school as well since they had good chemicals.
