The Plight (Sequel to the Plague) (BWWM)

The Shurqoa beast snarled as his pack joined him. this was one of the reasons they were the most dangerous animal on the planet. They had exceptional speed, hearing and sense of smell. It was almost impossible to hide or flee from them. They also had 2 heads, 6 legs tipped with Sharp claws, were 3 times our size and the most obvious; they hunted in packs

I subtly stepped in front of Leena as Slix joined my side, shielding Kiera. We couldn't outrun them that was certain, the only option was to battle them,  but I knew they  would undoubtedly attempt to go after the girls sensing, them to be the weaker, easier prey

I needed to draw their attention away long enough to allow the girls to escape.

The beasts collectively began to stalk closer as i scrambled for a plan that would have the girls get away safely, even if me and Slix did not

"Leena, take this"  i said holding the emblem out other

"What?  why" she whispered shouted to me. Panic swam in her beautiful brown eyes

"Just take it"  i hissed "When i say run you and Kiera take off deep into the woods and find the Vurzek guy. Show him the emblem and  tell him everything. ok?"

Leena's voice began to quiver as she asked

"Xui..I...I'm not gonna le-"

"LEENA!" i growled "Now is not the time to be defiant!. Please just listen"

She sniffed But maintained her composure 

"Fine!" she spat snatching the emblem with attitude

"Slix, when they charge don't engage. Watch for the one who will go after the girls and stop him"

He nodded

Then it happened

The beasts lunged  for us all at the same time. 

"RUN!!!!" i shouted and instantly felt the wind at my back as Leena and Kiera took off running deeper into the dense forest

As expected  one noticed them fleeing and charged after them

Slix raced for it and began fighting to stop its pursuit, giving the girls time to escape

I found myself fighting two alone. They slashed and snarled all four heads attempting to snap me in half 

I've had much experience killing these beasts, but they were not easy to kill. Which is why it was a trial most warriors needed to face before being afforded the privilege of the tittle. And because they hunted in packs it was recommended to always battle them with a least one other person, never alone

I manged to cut one off the heads of one and a leg from the other before one got a good swipe onto my arm. I hissed as blood immediately poured from the wound. I ignored the stinging pain of it and continued fighting, thankful that it wasn't  my sword arm that was injured

Just then sharp whistling sounds were heard right before arrows flew past my face straight into the creatures before me

Three in the remaining heads and 4 into their chest dropping them to the ground quickly and efficiently. I stepped back startled, my eyes frantically searched the trees looking  for the potential threat

I glanced over where Slix was to see his beast had also been killed with similar arrows. He looked just as nervous and confused as i was as he raced to my side. Back to back we stood searching and waiting for the mysterious person to either attack or reveal themselves

Nothing but eerie silence persisted for anxiety filled moments

Then we heard movement. Three LoQuan males dropped from the white trees above effortlessly landing on their feet.
