Wybie Lovat x Reader

"What an eye! Do you think there's anymore around here?" (Y/n) wondered as she stood up and looked around.

"I hope so! Let's start digging by other trees! I'll go dig over there and you two dig over here more." Instructed Wybie as he dashed over to another area. The three friends dug into the dirt with bare hands as they searched for as many gemstones as they could find.

"I got another one!"

"There's one over here!"

"Here's another one!"

Soon enough, (Y/n), Wybie and Coraline had collected enough opal to form a small pile.

Wybie dusted off his most recent find and put in in the pile before he heard one of the girls call his name.

"Hey, Wybie! Can you come help me for a second?!" the voice rang from behind a tree. He hurried over to find (Y/n) tugging at a opal that was still mostly buried.

"I'm here, what do ya need?"

"Could you help me pull this this out? It really wants to stay stuck!" (Y/n) grunted as she took one last pull on the stone.

"Sure thing, move over and we'll pull it together." Accepted Wyborne as he sat next to the (h/c) girl. As he reached for the opal, (Y/n) did too. Their hands landed in the same spot, warming each others skin for a brief moment before they pulled away.

"Oh, s-sorry about that! I guess I wasn't paying attention to where I- I was putting my hand..." Giggled (Y/n) shyly as a very faint blush appeared on her face.

"Uh, d- don't worry about it! Let's just get this opal out." Wybie responded with a slight blush of his own.

"On the count of three, pull as hard as you can, okay?"

"Got it."

"Alright, 1, 2, 3!" Wybie announced before the two began to yank on the rock. They grunted in effort as they tried to work it out of the dirt.

Pulling with all of their might, the gem finally popped out of it's spot and made (Y/n) and Wybie fall into their backs. Dirt flew out from the hole and immediately covered the kids in dirt.

Wybie and (Y/n) sat up in unison and turned to look at each other. As (Y/n) looked at her friend, she bit her lip to keep from smiling before bursting into laughter. Wybie smiled too before joining in with some hearty chuckles of his own.

"Wow, we got doused, didn't we, Wybie?!" Chortled (Y/n) as she began to wipe the muck off of her clothes.

"We really did! At least we got the opal out."

"Yeah, thanks for helping me with it."

"No problem. I'd honestly do anything for you, (N/n)."

"You would? Why?"

Wybie froze as (Y/n) peered at him. Did she figure out he liked her or had Coraline told her without him knowing?

The thought of his blue haired friend's words echoed in his head as he started to stutter.

"Uh, I- well, you kn-know-"

"I haven't told her... yet. But I will if you don't confess soon!"

Wybie stopped talking and took a deep breath in as he turned to look his best friend turned crush in the eye.

"Because I like you. A lot. I think you're brave a-and funny and kind. When you do that thing where you look to the side when you're flustered, my whole day gets better. I think you're amazing."

"You like me? You mean it?..." (Y/n) asked with a stunned look.

"Of course I like you! You're great..." Answered the boy as he timidly rubbed the back of his neck

"Well, I'm glad you do, because I like you too, Wyb." 

"Wait, you like me too?!"

"Yeah, I have for a while now. I was scared to tell you because I was afraid that it would ruin our friendship."

"There's no way that could happen, (N/n). Especially if you were my girlfriend." Wybie told the shy girl with a small smile.

"Wait, what?! Girlfriend?!"

"Yeah, girlfriend. Do you want to be my girlfriend, (Y/n)?" Asked Wybie as he gently grabbed one of (Y/n)'s hands. (Y/n) looked at him with a blank stare before she squealed and tackled him in a hug.

"Of course I do, silly!" The girl laughed happily as she squeezed her new boyfriend. Wybie sighed in relief as he put his arms around (Y/n) in an embrace.

"Finally! It's about time, you dorks!" A voice exclaimed from behind them. They sat up and spun around to see Coraline smirking down at them. The couple exchanged a look before (Y/n) stood up and pointed at the Jones girl.

"You planned this, didn't you?"

"Maybe I did, Maybe I didn't. The important thing is that you guys are together now."

"Low blow, Jonesy, but... thanks, I guess." Wybie grinned as he stood up and pulled (Y/n) closer to his side.

"No problem, Wyb. Now let's go home and show everyone our finds!" Coraline stated as she began to march out of the woods.

"Well, shall we?" Wybie asked as he offered (Y/n) his hand. (Y/n) smiled brightly as she took his palm in hers. She got onto her tiptoes and gave him a small kiss on the cheek.

"We shall!" (Y/n) giggled as she tenderly towed a lovestruck Wybie along, back through the forest.
