Austin's POV

Showtime. I'm pumped! I'm always excited for shows. However, I have been a little off today. I don't know what it is, but I just seem like I haven't been all there today. Next up forever. Normal entrance. This is what, the thirteenth show? I love shooting shows, but I seem like I'm not as excited to do it today. Why? I can't figure it out. We get to I don't even know which song. I was in front of house, in front of the crowd, shooting Jack. My vision goes blurry and I can't focus. My hearing goes away and I blink to try to get my focus back. It's not working. I need to get out of here. I start trying to walk back stage to try to get my focus back and try to calm down. I can't breathe really well. What is happening to me? I start walking backstage, and I keep stumbling over my steps. I get somewhat backstage where Rob and Dane are getting ready for the next song. I sit down on one of the travel boxes, and Rob looks over at me.
"You ok there Austin?" I look up in surprise.
"Yeah I'm fine thanks." I say, basically in one word, trying to catch my breath. Rob and Dane ignore me and go back to whatever they're doing. Ryan, Jack and Adam come off stage for a water break as JJ does his trumpet medley. Ryan notices I'm backstage, and asks,
"Hey Austin, you ok?"
"Yeah I'm fine."
"Hey, Austin, don't lie, I know you're not." Ryan says. Jack comes over to see if I'm ok as well.
"You ok?" Jack asks.
"Yeah I'm fine guys, don't worry about it."
"Austin, I know your not ok. You're not normally back here trying to catch your breath. What's going on?" Ryan says, sitting beside me on the box, but far enough away that I won't freak out.
"Honestly, I don't know. I... I was shooting the show like normal, and my hearing started to go away, and my vision got blurry, and I couldn't breathe. So I came back here."
"It's probably the overstimulation from the lights and sounds." Jack says.
"Yeah. Want some water or something?" Ryan asks.
"That would be great, thanks." I say. Jack stands up and goes to grab me some water. While he was gone, Ryan turns to me and asks,
"Has this kinda thing happened before? Or is this the first time?"
"This is the first. I got so scared with all that was happening with my vision and hearing that I couldn't breathe. And now I'm scared that I'm not breathing."
"Well, Jack is getting you some water, so that'll help, but, I want you to stay here until you calm down. I know you love shooting the show, but I don't want you to freak out any further. Rest here until your all the way calmed down, and I don't care if it's until after the show. Alright?" I nod, but Ryan can tell I'm not focusing.
"Hey Austin, you got that?" He asks again.
"Yeah. Thanks Ryan." I say, but I couldn't really breathe very well. Ryan notices and gave me a tip.
"Here's a trick- breathe in for five seconds, and then out for five seconds. You got that Austin?"
"I... I guess." I stutter out, trying to follow his advice.
"Alright." Ryan says. Jack comes back with the water, and they get called for places.
"Close your eyes and try to focus and relax." Ryan says. I nod back, taking a sip of the water. I pull my knees up in my chest and I take off my glasses. I lay my face down on my knees, and try to focus on something other than me not breathing. In for five, out for five. Just as Ryan said. In for five, out for five. I repeated that for a while. I eventually calm down, just as Ryan and Adam come off for Jack to do dear winter, and for them to get their finale costumes on. Once Ryans costume was on, he came over to me to ask how I was doing.
"Better, but not quite there yet." I say.
"Alright. Good to know." Ryan said. It kind of confused be a bit as to why it was good to know, but my mind didn't need anymore confusion, so I ignored it. I stayed in the back until the end of the show. I finally calm down, almost all the way, just as the guys are taking off their finale costumes. Ryan and Jack come over to me again, to see if I'm doing any better.
"Yeah. I'm doing alright now." I say.
"You sure? You can breathe normally now?" Jack asks.
"Yeah. Thanks guys." I say.
"Anytime!" Ryan says. "So, this kinda thing happens to Jack every so often, and the way I calm him down is with a hug. You good if I give you one?" Ryan asks.
"Of course! I love hugs." I say standing up. Ryan gives me a hug, and after that, Jack gives me a hug.
"You doing ok now?" Ryan asks for a final time.
"Yeah. Thanks guys. Sorry I didn't get any of the show." I say.
"It's ok. We don't need it every night." Jack says.
"You sure? Thanks." I say.
"Anytime." They both say.
"Oh, and for the record, Ryans hug was way better." I say.
"Yep, he's back." Ryan says laughing.
