MY EYES SHOT OPEN and I shot upright at the sound of my phone ringing. I sat up and tried to wake myself up more since I was still half asleep. I looked to my left and grabbed my phone off the white night stand.
I had an incoming call from Katherine.
"Hello," I replied groggily as I rubbed my eyes with my fingers.
"Vell gerd mering te vou too," I heard her say.
I blinked a few times and took a second to try to process what she said due to my sleepy state, "Huh?"
"I said, well good morning to you too," Katherine chuckled softly and I heard a shuffling noise, "Sorry for waking you up. I didn't think you'd be sleeping still. You're always awake around this time since you're on your work break."
"Fuck!" I yelled out and the adrenaline rushing through my body woke me up, "I overslept and missed work! What time is it?"
"It's 12:13 pm, Stella. It's already way too late for you to even try to rush to work," She replied with her very prominent Geordie accent making it a little confusing to understand her, "Why were you even sleeping so late?"
That's when I looked at my surroundings and noticed that I was in Jeff's room and he wasn't there. The blackout curtains in his room did the job suffice to the point where I had to squint to see what was around me.
"I got home really late last night," I yawned and started stretching, "Well, I got to Jeff's place really late last night."
It sounded like both she shot up or froze in her spot, "Wait, you slept over at his house? You're in his bed?! Did you sleep with him for real this time? I knew it would happen sooner or later."
I rolled my eyes at her comment and I then realized I didn't want Jeff to hear me talking about him, "Yes, yes, and no I didn't," I whispered, "Look, I'll tell you everything later. I've got to go. Love you."
"Okay fine, I love you too, Stella. Bye," and with that she ended the call.
I stretched once more before throwing the covers off of me. My feet reached the cold hardwood floor and I picked myself off the bed before walking over to the bathroom to freshen up as much as I could.
When I was finished, I heard voices. A lot of them. All were familiar, but some of those voices I had only heard from behind a screen.
