"Hey, what's going on here? Why is there so much noise?" At the sound of my voice the noise stops and the children run to me to give me hugs. Well Alfie and Anaya runs Aaron walks like the little prince he is. I bend down to hug them.
"Daddy, where have you been? We came here ages ago but you weren't here." Alfie says.
"Yeah Daddy, we missed you." Anaya says and my heart literally melts. This is what real love feels like. To be missed, wanted and needed by the people you love the most in this world.
"Daddy missed you guys too." Kissing their chubby cheeks, they smile so happily. Oh the joy of childhood.
"What happened at school today?" And they went to a full rant about what happened all at the same time.
"One by one you guys." Alfie went first and went on about someone that was bullying a girl in the play ground. While he talked, I looked behind me for Blake and I saw the look in his eyes. It was one of awe and a slight hint of jealousy. I guess I can understand. He is in a room filled with children, the one thing that he has always wanted.
"Have you guys had lunch?"
"Yes, Dad ordered pizza, but I want you to cook, I've missed your cooking."
"Don't worry, I'll be home soon and then I'll cook anything you want."
I leave them to play among themselves and went to meet Jace who was talking to Blake. I greeted him with a kiss. I know Blake is married and all but I'm petty like that.
"Hey babe, where have you been? I see you've met Blake."
"Yeah, we met in the garden and we talked." Jace was holding Aiden in his arms looks like he wants to start feeding him.
"Have you fed Andre?"
"No, I just got the formula and was about to start on Aiden before you came in." I made funny faces at Aiden and was rewarded with his a toothless laugh.
"Go ahead and feed him, I've got Andre." I picked Andre who got a little fussy when he saw my face, stretching out his hands to meet me with a huge smile on his face. As they become older, it becomes easier to differentiate between the twins. The most defining trait is that Aiden is darker than Andre. Its amazing, they look identical but totally different.
"How do you guys manage with all these kids running around?" Blake asked curiously. Looking at the twins with longing.
"We try our best, that's all a parent can do." Sitting down with Andre in my arms I start feeding him his bottle and he gobbles it up. Same as his brother.
"Hey where is Jensen? Did he not come with you guys?"
"Nah he said he had something to take care of, he left when I got home."
"By the way, how is Wesley doing?" Jace asked Blake who was talking to Alfie. He met my eye for a little while before answering.
"He's fine, he has a torn ACL so he's going to have difficulty walking for a while but other than that he's going to make a full recovery. He only has a few more weeks to stay in the hospital as he has to undergo physical therapy."
"I'm sure he's a tough guy, he can handle it." Andre finished his bottle, this is the first time he's done it since he got taken out of the incubator. I feel so happy tears immediately rush to my eyes.
He has yet to fully grasp the act of feeding, and has problem hanging on to the nipple of the bottle and swallowing. While feeding yesterday and even today he hasn't been able to finish his bottle but we tried to feed him as much as he could handle often. My baby is going to be okay.
"Henry, you okay?" Jace asked me, an alarmed look in his eyes.
I laugh amidst the tears. Even Blake looks worried.
"I'm more than okay, Jace he finished his bottle." He laughs too clearly understanding what I mean since he's been through it all with me, when I would cry because he wasn't able to eat, or would throw up what he already ate. I was barely able to eat too, it just didn't feel right.
I gave him big kisses all over his red face and he was laughing too like he could feel the joy in my heart.
"You're a good boy aren't you, making your daddy happy, you are such a cute little boy. Daddy loves you so much." I gave him a final kiss before putting him back in the crib, I doubt he's going to fall asleep anytime soon. Jace was done with feeding Aiden, he was burping him while talking to Blake. When he was done, he put him in the same crib and then it looked like they started up a conversation that us dumb adults won't understand. It's cute.
Jace came to my side and gave me a really bug hug which I reciprocated.
"Hey guys, I have to get going now. I haven't seen Wesley since I came, I'm sure he is expecting me."
"Okay don't be a stranger." Jace said.
"I won't, by the way, you guys have a beautiful family. You're very lucky." Smiling he left the room after we said our goodbyes.
"We really are lucky aren't we?"
"Yes we are baby, yes we are." He said enjoying the view of the rowdy three playing in a corner of the room quietly so they won't disturb their baby brothers. I just smile and hope our luck only grows and we remain happy.
Hey guys, me again.
I need your opinion on something. I don't know what to make of Blake. Should I just let him be a good guy and a passing character or should he make an impact and if so, in what way?
Maybe I should go ahead as planned and end the book soon. Not really sure of anything. Need your feedback. Don't forget to vote and follow me (if you want I mean I cant force you although it would be much appreciated).
Thanks for reading.
