Chapter 2

Leina

Hearing your heart beat is soothing for the soul
Hearing you laugh shows me you're here
And
Being in your arms is all I want.

I shifted a bit from the which lead me to falling of I opened my eyes and whimpered softly, my fox tails came swaying and tickling me. I loosened my robe and went out of the room hoping everyone was done with bathing, I walked around the mountain but I couldn't find anyone I took the opportunity to go shower and get dressed. I decided to go to the front hall maybe I will find somebody there, when I got to the hall fourteen pair of eyes looked at me and their eyes widened. "What are you looking at?" I said asked casually as I sat down. "Where is master?" I asked again. "Master went to heaven." The second disciple answered. "Shi Wu, you missed today's class." I stared at him. "What are you talking about? It's still morning." All the disciples laughed. "No Shi Wu, it's almost evening you have been sleeping for the whole day." I covered my mouth in shock and I ran outside to see and indeed it was dark, suddenly master appeared with father. "Shi Wu." Master said my name softly and I bowed my head. "Yes master." I said sweetly. "Dong Hua is here for you." The disciples gasped again. "Your Majesty." I bowed as I followed him outside, away from the young curious eyes.  " Father." I whispered I felt tears trickling down my face as the fear from yesterday overwhelmed me, he pulled me into a warm embrace. "They scared you, didn't they?" He asked softly. "Father it was terrible." He laughed softly. "Don't worry Mo Yuan will take of it." He kissed my forehead gently. "Now be good." He said pulling away from me and we walked back to the hall.  He went to talk to master while I sat down amongst the disciple. "What did Your Majesty wants?" He asked curiously in fact all of them were watching me curiously. "He wanted me to name the people that scared me yesterday." Their faces tensed up. "How is that possible." Second disciple asked. "Have you forgotten that His Majesty is the son in law of Qingqiu." Their eyes were so wide, father and master came out laughing at something. Father looked at me and said his goodbye through silent communication, I looked at master and his eyes are so soft. "Shi Wu come with me." He summoned his sword and when he was almost out he turned. "Don't follow us." He said to the others and continued walking, I followed master quietly to the training ground. He gave me the sword the sword and he stared deeply into my eyes and then he looked away. "Mount it." He said softly, I put the sword on both hands and threw it midair and leapt into the sky landing on top of it steadily. "Get down." I came down and his face was so soft. "Again." He said and again I threw the sword midair and leapt into the sky, after the third time he stopped me. "Master I'm sorry I missed class." His pupils dialated and his eyes darkened but not in a scary way. "What did you teach today Master?" I asked softly, he circled me once. "Archery." He answered just as softly. "Would it be okay if you taught me?" My voice dropped at a bit. "Right now?" He whispered, although there was space between us he felt the closest as he can be. "Yes right now." I swallowed loudly. "Okay." He moved away from me, at the western wall of the training ground a wooden rail appeared with ten arrow shooting boards, he produced a bow and arrow.  "Let's see what you can do." He handed me the bow and arrow, then he came to stand behind me.

Heat was radiating off his body and his sandalwood scent was choking me, leaving me unable to breath I aimed and I shot the arrow and it land in the middle, I shot at the second and the third and on the last one he leaned closer I could feel his breath at the back of my hair. I shot the last arrow but I missed. "You did good." The warmth of his breath and the coldness of the air mingled together causing me to shiver, I turned to look at him but he was too close to me so when I turned I almost kissed him but he took a step back his eyebrows furrowing. "I'm sorry Master." He threw his sword at me. "Mount it." He said and I did like the first when I was standing on top of it he spoke again. "Do a handstand on it." My eyes widened surely I would fall but not wanting to show my fear, I leapt a bit higher in the sky and I flipped myself upside down and landed on the sword with my hands. He chanted a wind spell and the wind started blowing, the sword started moving because of the wind. "Keep still." He commanded and I tried  but the wind kept increasing and I ended up falling. I hit the ground with a small thud and I cursed under my breath. "Shi Wu, did you just curse?" His voice was light and full of humour. "No master you heard me wrong." He shook his head slightly. "Do the handstand again." He commanded and I complied again this time he chanted the spell of the rain, it started raining hard but the sword was still stable." On your feet." I flipped myself and landed on my feet without much movement from the sword. "Handstand again." I complied and this time he added the wind to the rain and the sword started moving slightly. "Keep still." I wanted to tell at him out of frustration but I couldn't keep still and I ended up falling, this time I landed on my butt. "That's enough." He said as he walked away, I huffed and he turned around. "Are you not coming?" I got up and walked passed him into the hall and into my room. I was wet from the rain and I couldn't dry myself using magic arts, so I just sat on the floor waiting for everyone to go to sleep. Although I would never admit this to father but I'm grateful for all the countless handstand punishments he made do on his sword, even though they were not as harsh as master's. I heard a gentle knock and the first disciple came in. "Master is..." He looked bewildered for a second. "Why are you wet?" He asked curiously. "I fell in the lotus pool." His curiosity turned to laughter you need to be careful. "Master is asking for his sword." He blinked innocently. "I don't have it, I left it outside." His eyes widened and he quickly left only to bump into Master in the hallway, he came into my room and looked at me. "Shi Wu where's my sword?" His voice was tauting me. "Outside." I answered, his eyes were full of laughter. "Go get it." I huffed again and went outside to get it, it was still midair as I left it when I fell. "Blue come down." The sword slowly came down and landed on my hands gently. "Good boy." It blazed a fiery blue and I giggled. "Okay okay, my blue." When I turned around Master and the first disciple were watching me, I went over to master handing him his sword. "I'm sorry I didn't catch you when you fell." He said softly and he walked away then I realised my clothes were dry, when I got back to the halls the disciples were in a heated argument. "What are you guys arguing about now." The first disciple asked, I went to pour myself some tea and came back to join them. "We are talking about Dong Hua's Dijiun's daughter." I choked on my tea and looked at master who was sitting on his dias reading a scroll, he lifted up his eyes and went back to reading. "Why are you talking about Dijiun's daughter?" I asked all of them looked at me like I was mad. "Haven't you seen how beautiful she is, she's the love of my life." The tea burnt my tongue this time. "Chuanli have you met her before?" I asked after a long pause. "Yes I have, when heaven held the banquet to introduce Master as the new Heavenly Father, she was with Princess Ai Lan." All eyes were fixated on him, even Master had stopped reading his scroll. "How do you know that was Dong Hua's Dijiun's daughter? It could have been anyone?" I said softly, Chuanli sneakered. "She's the only goddess who has silver White hair like her father and the Pheonix flower on her forehead like Empress Bai Fengjiu." My eyes were wide, why was he watching me in the first place. " You're right! She once came into the mountain with the Third Prince, at first I didn't realise it until the third Prince pointed it out, she's indeed a beauty." The fifth disciple praised. "Do you know her name?" The first disciple asked. "She said..... Uhmm.... Bai Leina! Yes that's her name Bai Leina." The tea choked me so bad that it even came out of my nose, I was coughing so badly. "Are you alright?" Aiguo asked. "I'm fine, don't worry." He patted my back gently. "Who here would dare send Dijiun a marriage proposal?" The eighth disciple asked, they all raised their hands. "Jinhai, wouldn't you?" I sneakered. "I'm from the fox clan, she's  my cousin how could I think of such a thing about her?" They made agreeing sounds. "Right! If she's your cousin then you know stuff about her right?" Aiguo asked, I nodded my head and they all smiled. "Is she engaged to someone?" The first disciple asked. " Nobody knows of her existence, only a few know and like you had asked before who would dare send Dijiun a marriage proposal." I said fake sighing. "Then we have a good chance in meeting her." The first disciple said. "However she already has somebody that she likes." I said as looked at Master, his dark eyes were blank and unreadable he was staring intently at me. "Who is it?" Aiguo questioned. "That's a secret between me and my cousin." I said and they sneakered. "What does she like doing then, I'm sure there could be something that she likes to do that I could do." Chuanli and the first disciple said simultaneously. "She likes reading Buddhist theories and drinking lilly wine." They looked at me like I grew horns. "She reads Buddhist theories and she actually understands them?" Aiguo asked and I nodded my head. "I don't think anything would impress her like the person she likes, in her eyes no one could compare." They made funny faces. "We should ask Dijiun to hold a banquet so we could meet her." They all agreed amongst themselves and they looked at Master. "Can we Master?" The sixth disciple asked, a dark emotion swirled in his eyes. "Sure you can ask him." Although his lips agreed his eyes had evident disapproval. "Shi Wu go to bed, you have an early morning." I was taken aback for a second like the rest of the disciples, but I complied anyway and I bowed to my seniors and bowed to Master and went to sleep.

I got into bed and I stared at the roof, what was that about? I wondered the disapproval in his eyes was chilling me.
A few minutes after I heard him walking down the passage to his room, I really wanted to know what kind of past he has had but I'm afraid the glamour spell will break, I need to write father a letter and whenever Master goes to heaven I could ask him to deliver it to me, with that thought I drifted to a dreamless sleep.
