Looking up, I made eye contact with Cooper and quickly unwrapped myself from our shorter friend to practically tackle him. I was laughing practically the whole time, happy to see them after the most boring plane ride in my life. Well, happy was an understatement, I had never been so excited to see two people in my life, and I was back to shaking like a small dog, which made both Cooper and Travis laugh at me even more.
"Someone's excited huh?" Cooper said through a laugh as the two of them helped me get my things together before leading me through a large crowd to get out of the airport.
The whole ride to the air bnb, I made the boys tell me everything about the little trip we were taking and there wasn't a second where the car was quiet. At some point, Travis had taken a video of me jabbering in the back seat of the car to send to our snapchat group, and I hadn't even noticed until I got the notification. It took maybe twenty minutes for us to get to the bnb from the airport, and the second that we arrived I felt my nerves going absolutely sicko mode. Cooper grabbed my bag from the back of the car and went inside first, whereas Travis stayed with me as I tried to buy myself some time to calm down as we walked up the driveway.
"Come on, don't drag your feet." Traves told me, sensing a change in my demeanor. I give him a shy smile as I start to walk at a more normal pace, rationalizing in my head. There was no reason to be nervous, the boys already knew what I looked like and we were all friends anyways, there was no reason to think they would be weird about me being there.
Travis opens the front door for me and I step inside hesitantly, only to be bombarded by someone who I don't even have a chance to look at before they wrap me up like a burrito. I laugh as I hear some of the other boys start yelling at my arrival as well.
"Oh Y/N/N! It's so good to see you!" It was Ted who had wrapped me up like a boa constrictor, making me laugh.
"Hey Ted." I mumbled into his shirt, smiling widely as I did. He eventually lets me go and the next people I see are Carson, Charlie, Noah, and Josh, each of which I hug quickly. Once I had greeted each of them, I heard someone start to walk down the stairs and turn my head slowly, thinking about who else was supposed to be there. As I caught a glimpse of a pair of timberlands, everything clicked. How could I have forgotten Schlatt? He was the major reason that I was nervous to come into the house in the first place.
It was sort of cheesy as I watched him walk down the stairs, it almost seemed like one of those prom scenes in a stupid high school love story, and everything seemed to play in slow motion. He looked like an absolute giant as he walked down the stairs, a huge, goofy grin painted on his face as his eyes rested on me. I met him half way and stood at the bottom of the stairs where he wrapped me in a hug, picking me up off of the ground briefly to swing me around.
"Look who finally showed up!" His laugh boomed throughout the room and some of the other boys joined in too. Eventually Schlatt unwraps me from his arms and stares down at me, his smile never leaving his face. He smells nice, there is a faint hint of pine and something that seems almost warm to him.
"Wow, you look different in person!" He says as he quickly hugs me again. I laugh, not really knowing what that meant.
"Is that a good thing or a bad thing?" I ask through my laughs as he puts his arms back to his sides.
"It's a good thing." He tells me with a sly wink before plopping onto the stairs, pulling me down with him so we can sit and chat. We just sort of look at each other for a few seconds, both of us taking in the fact that we were there, sitting next to each other, in person instead of through a low quality computer camera.
"Wow," he says after a while, "it's great to see you." His eyes stare into mine rather intensely, neither of us blinking for a few seconds more before I finally clear my throat and respond.
"Yeah, it's nice to see you too." I say with a little laugh as our knees bump together.
"You know you're really b-" Schlatt started to say something but was cut of by Cooper, who was headed down the stairs that we were sitting on.
"Can you guys move?" He asks. I quickly stand up to give him room to walk past Schlatt. Cooper turns around to look at us before he goes to join the other boys in the main room, "Also, your room is the second door on the left, Y/N/N, I put your stuff in there." He tells me, giving me a small smile before going over to see what the other boys were doing. I take a deep breath before turning to Schlatt again.
"Give me a house tour?" I ask, wanting to spend some more time with just him.
"Sure!" He says, standing up off of the stairs and starting the little tour with the first floor of the house. There was a kitchen, dining room, family room and bathroom on the first floor as well as a walk out porch to the backyard which had multiple hammocks and a pool. Then, we went into the basement which consisted of a game area with a pool table and an air hockey table and a little seating area in front of a huge TV, almost like a movie theater. We went to the top floor next, which had six bedrooms, one of which was all mine because I was the only girl staying at the house.
We stopped in my room where both of us looked around. It was on the smaller side, which was fine because I wasn't sharing with anyone else, but it had its own door out to the balcony that wrapped around the whole upper floor of the house.
"This room is pretty cool." Schlatt says, throwing himself onto the bed. I nod from my spot by the window, taking in the view around us. "You're lucky that you're a woman or you would probably be sharing a room with someone right now." He tells me with a little laugh and a sigh. I turn to face him, giving him a curious look.
"Who do you have to share with?" I ask him. He rolls over on his side to look at me.
"I'm with Carson, we're in the room right next to you." He says, gesturing to the wall by the bed with his thumb.
"Oh great, don't be too loud." I tell him sarcastically, opening the balcony door and smiling at the warm breeze.
"Oh now we'll just have to be even louder." He says with a laugh as he gets up off of the bed and joins me in the doorway to the balcony. We turn to face each other and there's something sweet in his eyes that I've never noticed over discord before, probably because of the low camera quality.
"So, I think that we-" For the second time in less than an hour, Schlatt was interrupted in the middle of his sentence.
"Hey guys!" Noah practically yelled as he walked into the room, not noticing what had been going on, "We're going to go get lunch! Come on!!" Schlatt looks more than defeated as the two of us make our way downstairs behind Noah. If we kept getting interrupted like this during the rest of the trip, it was going to be more than just frustrating.
