Okay, so redstone dust could only be powered by: a redstone torch, redstone block, a button(sends a 4 tick pulse), an observer, and a lever.
A redstone output could only reach 15 blocks, it powered by only 1 lever or any kind of redstone source. But if you add more than one source, the redstone output gets stronger. When a lever is flicked first on one side which will power the thing, the other lever will never work so don't put more than one lever.
