"It's good to see you again, Dr. Weaver."
I smiled at the secretary of the Bannington Sanitarium and continued my way to Room 987, where my sister was being held.

On the way there, I got a lot of greetings from some of the patients I've helped. When I send my sister here I started to have interviews and sessions with some patients, who all had gone through a lot.
It helped them and that was my goal so I continued to go here more often, and I kept in touch with the other doctors, just to be sure how they were all doing.

I knocked on the door, my heartbeat quicker than it had been the whole day.
It was kind of funny that I was more afraid of seeing my sister then sitting face to face to a serial killer.

Carefully, I opened the door and got inside, my eyes scanning the room for a sign of my sister.
The room was clean, organized and non-personally.
Nothing was in there.
Gabriella never even unpacked her clothes.

"Gabby? Hey, Gabby. It's me, Genna. Where are you?"
Slowly I went even further into the middle of the room and got to a halt next to the bed, before kneeling down on the floor and grabbing a hold of the greenish blanket, lifting it up so I could see my sister lying on the floor, swinging back and forth in fetus position.

She flinched when the sun shone through the curtains and onto her petite body but didn't look my way.
"Can we go now?"

I closed my eyes and pressed my lips to a thin line, my heart aching at the horrible sight of her.
"Gabs, you know we can't. This is the best place you could potentially be."

Her eyes flickered hectically from my face to my hand and then back to the ground. "Where are they? When are coming to get us?"

I took a deep breath as my eyes started to water.
"Gabby, honey, they are not coming. They won't. Ever."

She seemed truly shocked, letting go of her legs and crawling out from under the bed. "But-But Mommy and Daddy promised me. They would come. They wouldn't just leave us for ourselves by those horrible people and the government. They told me, Genna. I know it. They talked to me just yesterday. They are coming and-."

I interrupted her, while shaking my head. "Did you take your medicine today?"

She looked at me, her eyes red and puffy, as she had been crying all day, before picking at her nails.
A habit she did when she was nervous.
"Maybe, maybe not. I cannot remember. B-but what I can remember is Mommy and Daddy talking to me."

I ran my hand through my hair, before I tried to distract her.
"How was your day? Did Diana hold another lecture?"

She blinked a few times, shrugging, before she nodded and smiled.
"Yeah, and I loved it. She had this big brown book. I'd like it too."

"Do you know what it's called?"

She looked up at the ceiling, her mouth turned downward as if she was about to cry.
"No, I can't. I can't remember."

I smiled at her reassuringly, before getting up slowly.
"Don't worry, Gabs. I'm gonna ask her, okay? I'm just one room ahead."

She nodded, distracted by the ceiling, with a small smile on her lips.
I watched her for a moment, my heart sinking before I left the room and knocked on room 988, hoping she'd open up.

"Hey, Diana. It's me, Genna. I have a question for you. If you wouldn't mind, I'd like to see you."

After some seconds, I've heard rustling from inside of the room, before the doorknob turned downward, revealing the elderly blonde patient, with a small smile on her face.
"Genevieve, Oh Lord, I'm glad you're here. All those other doctors, they're all crazy. Out of their minds, you know?
      So, what is your question?"

I smiled at her, before nodding in the direction of my sister's room.
"Gabby told me that you held a lecture and she loved the book. Could you tell me the name of it?"

She seemed a bit confused, however after a while, she laughed and nodded happily. "Yes, yes! Of course, she liked it. It was the book you gave me. From my favorite-."

"Margery Kempe, yeah. I remember. It's 'How to be a Medieval Woman', right?"

She nodded excitedly and clapped her hands together.
"Yes, yes, yes. That's right. Thank you, it was great."

"I'm happy you liked it. If you want, I can bring another one tomorrow. Maybe from someone else?"

"Yes but be sure there is no one following you. My son writes me about the bad guys out there, so be careful. They could be in here too."
The further she got with her sentences, the quieter she got.

I nodded.
"I'm gonna be careful but believe me, here are no bad man running around. You all are safe here."

"Tell Gabriella I said Hi."

"Will do. Have a great day, Diana."
She smiled one last time before closing the door.

Diana was my favorite patient here, apart from Gabby, of course. She always told me everything about her "adventures", as she liked to call them, and when she'd have a bad day, it lightened up her mood to talk about her son, whom she told me a lot about.

He was the only one who truly made her really happy which was why I could never understand why he wouldn't come and visit her.
But it wasn't my business, so I didn't try to interfere.
He had to have his reasons.
