Crush

Their first rehearsal with the orchestra went pretty well. Brett was putting away his violin during the lunch break when Tina came up to him.

"Hey Brett! You guys are coming to tonight's party, right?" Tina cheerfully asked with a nice smile on her face. Brett didn't like her at the first place cuz she seemed really into Eddy, which made Brett very insecure. But you can't judge a person just by your own impression. Maybe she just is a nice fan that stan Eddy more.

Brett decided to be more friendly, "Oh yeah definitely. Thanks for inviting us btw, we are like ancient." He joked. "Noooooo you are not! It will be a fun night!" Tina dramatically responded to his joke, then she continued, "I will text all the details and location to Eddy, see you guys tonight!"

Wait what? Text?

Brett's heart skipped a beat. So they have been texting. They exchanged their number already huh. Why didn't Eddy tell me? Brett felt very uncomfortable.

It's not a big deal if Eddy told him about this. He would just be jealous secretly for a while and it would past. But the fact Eddy chose not to tell him made him felt...betrayed? He couldn't describe the feeling. Brett suddenly felt sad, was there really something was going on that Eddy didn't wanna share? Weren't they best friend?

On one hand, he knew Eddy has the right to save anyone's number and text with them. On the other hand, he just couldn't control his jealousy and sorrow. Brett got super annoyed by himself. He hated this stupid crush.

"Sure, thanks." He managed to force a polite smile and walked toward to the cafeteria where Eddy was getting their lunch.

Brett chose not to ask. If Eddy didn't want to tell him, then he must have reasons. Besides, Brett knew it would be super awkward if he asked. 'So you have been texting with Tina, why you didn't tell me?' Who am I? A jealous girlfriend? Brett shook his head as Eddy waved to him. He quickly walked up to him and tried his best to act normal for the whole meal.

In the afternoon, Brett found himself couldn't focus on the rehearsal. He even missed a whole bar and the whole orchestra stopped. It was super embarrassing. Eddy could sense that Brett wasn't in his state, this usually wouldn't happen. He gave him a worried look, Brett just awkwardly smiled and apologized for his mistake to the whole orchestra.

"Sorry guys, my mind skips, my bad." The conductor was very nice and surprisingly no one gave him any disgust or impatient look. Brett was amazed by their professionalism and kindness. Get yourself together.

"What was that? Are you ok?" Eddy asked on their way back to their hotel. "I'm fine, I know you will tease me about it. That was sUPER embarrassing." Brett sighted. This is just so unprofessional. He cringed so bad when he recalled the feeling that the whole orchestra stopped and stared at him. "Seriously, the conductor was way too kind, I almost forgot how intense it could be." Eddy lightly pat his shoulder to comfort, "Things happen, I feel you bro. Just focus more next time."

They went back to their hotel room to get changed for the party. Brett was not sure if he was in the mood for the party after the whole situation. But he surely needed some drinks to release it.

The boys arrived at the party at 10 pm. The atmosphere was hype, and everyone was enjoying their life. There was really loud thumping music, some pop songs that Brett couldn't recognize mixed with some old classics. Brett found his heartbeat was pounding along with the heavy beat of the music.

They greeted with a group of first violins and joined the conversation. Brett thought they were literally yelling at each other. He felt kinda awkward in the party but seemed like Eddy was having a great time. After a few shots with the violin section, Brett finally had the mood and felt he could blend in with the party.

"Bretty! Let's dannnnnnnce!" Brett could tell that Eddy was kind of tipsy when Eddy clumsily reached out to grab his hand. He laughed so hard when Eddy pulled him in to the dance floor and started dancing goofily.

Eddy suddenly stopped and hugged Brett tightly. He buried his face into Brett's shoulder, his hot breath was teasing Brett's neck. Brett felt his face was burning. What is going on?

"let me rest a bit, my head is spinning." Brett heard Eddy's hoarse voice came from his shoulder. Oh.

After a while, Eddy let go of him, Brett looked up to Eddy and got a dizzy stare. "Bro you are drunk." "I am NOT." "Eddy..."

"Hey guys! You are here! Did you have fun?" Tina showed up with some drinks. Brett suddenly felt disgusted for her presence. "Yessssss, thanks for inviting us!" Eddy cheerfully answered while a group of girls came up to them and asked to dance with them.

Brett relieved, at least more people showed up, so he didn't have to suffer the scene of Tina dancing with Eddy. He kindly rejected to the dance invitation and left the dance floor. He needed more drinks to calm down.

Brett took another few shots and watched Eddy dancing with those girls in the dance floor. His eyes never moved from his gorgeously handsome best friend.

"You don't like me, do you?"

Brett almost jumped when he suddenly heard Tina's sweet voice behind him. His drunk mind was not ready to this level of confrontation. "Err, of course not. I am sorry if you felt that way." "It's ok, I knew you like Eddy. Having a crush of your best friend is a torture. I understand." Tina gave him a meaningful look and tried so hard not to show her fan-girling emotion.

"I don't have a crush on Eddy, you misunderstood." Brett answered coldly, his mind started messing up. He knew he was drunk.

"So does that mean I have the permission?" What permission.

Tina laughed innocently "I am just joking, Brett. Please just admit your feeling. All the fans couldn't wait anymore." She stared at him for a while then walked away and joined her friends.

Brett was so confused at this point. His drunk mind couldn't process anything. So Tina is going to take action or not?

His head hurts.
