"Link," you stressed his name, lowering your weapon. "I'm tired already."

The boy only laughed at your words. "Just try to make one more bullseye."

You groaned, throwing your head back. "I don't want to," you grumbled, your lips forming a pout as you turned to look at him.

Link suppressed his laughter when he saw your face. "Is this how I look like when I whine for things?" He asked, tilting his head while keeping his eyes on you.

"Yes, but ten times poutier," you said, patting his cheek. "Now, can we go to the lake? It's getting hot."

"Well obviously, we're standing under the sun," Link pointed out, raising his hand to the sky.

"Wow, really? I didn't notice," you answered sarcastically, looking at him with a dead serious face.

He started to laugh at your facial expression. "Sorry," he said between his uncontrollable laughter. "Come on." Link cleared his throat, though he would occasionally start snickering to himself. "Do we take the horses or leave them here?"

You hummed in thought, directing your attention to Zephyr and Epona who were busy grazing on grass. They seemed to be enjoying themselves, and you didn't want to disturb them with a simple ride. "Well, the lake isn't too far," you shrugged. "We can just whistle for them to come after we're done."

"True," Link nodded and looked around. "If I'm correct it's that way, right?"

"Yes," you replied, beginning your walk towards the lake. An idea then popped into your brain. "You know, we always race on the horses, but we've never actually raced each other."

"What are you suggesting?"

"A race to the lake, duh."

"Oh... oh," Link smiled wide when he caught on. "Does the winner get anything?"

"Permission to brag that they're faster?"

"Hmm, I like that," he said, a mischievous smirk then growing on his pink lips. He stopped walking and got into a running stance. "Ready to lose (Y/n)?"

"Oh hush," you chuckled, getting into a similar position. You naturally started to count, and when you reached three, you sprinted forwards. The weight of your weapons and satchel made running rather difficult, but you pushed past the extra weight and continued your way to the lake that was surrounded by trees. You could hear Link's quick footsteps beside you, but you didn't turn to look at him. Instead, you kept your attention on getting to the lake first.

Link, on the other hand, was slowly starting to catch up to you. He was eventually able to dart past you and he didn't stop anytime soon. You groaned and tried picking up the pace, but it was of no use. Your weapons held you back and instead of going faster, you were slowing down. Your legs started to ache, and you felt an uncomfortable feeling form on your shoulders.

Just a bit more, you thought. Link seemed to slow down as well, so you used it to your advantage. Although your breathing was getting heavy, you pushed forwards and the two of you started racing side by side. The warm humidity of the area made you feel a bit sticky, despite only running for a few minutes. Sweat rolled down your skin in thick, salty beads which caused you to slow down.

Your heart was throbbing inside your chest, and you felt out of breath. By the time you and Link reached the lake, you were both physically drained. You placed your hands on your knees and bent down, in an attempt of catching your breath. "I think," you let out between breaths, "we should leave the racing to the horses."

Link panted, resting his back against a tree. "I agree," he gulped, wiping away the thin layer of sweat that had formed on his forehead. "Who won?"
